02-Jul-2009 - Tunis, 1 July 2009 – Rwanda will receive US$ 24.76 million (UA* 16 million) in the form of grants to finance the second phase of the country’s second 2009-2012 Rural Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Sub-Programme (PNEAR).
The funding, comprising a UA 10 million African Development Fund (ADF) grant and a UA 6 million grant from the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Initiative (RWSSI) Trust Fund, was approved by the ADF Executive Board on Wednesday in Tunis.

24-Jun-2009 - Tunis, 24 June 2009 – As part of the strategy to boost infrastructure development and regional economic integration in Africa, the Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on Wednesday in Tunis, approved two loans amounting to US$ 181 million, (117.04 million Units of Account UA*) to Mozambique and Malawi to finance the construction of the first phase of the Nacala Road Corridor, which links the two countries and Zambia.

19-Jun-2009 - The Bank Group and Chad on 17 June, 2009, in N’djamena signed an African Development Fund (ADF) grant agreement of Uunits of Accounts (UA) 31.61 million to finance the Koumra-Sarh road maintenance project. The AfDB Resident Representative in Chad, Pascal Bitoumbou, signed for the Bank, while the country’s Economy and Plan Minister, Ousman Matar Breme, signed for his country. The grant agreement was witnessed by several ministers, senior officials of technical ministries and staff of the Chad field office.
17-Jun-2009 - Tunis, 17 June 2009 – The Africa Development Fund’s (ADF) Board of Directors has approved a US$ 40.65 million (UA 26.26) million to finance the upgrading of the strategic Lungi-Port Loko road link in Sierra Leone.
The 65-km road project, which forms part of the country’s economic development and poverty reduction strategy, aims at closing infrastructure gaps and promoting private sector growth.

15-Jun-2009 - The AfDB and Kenya have signed loan agreements on the Farm Infrastructure and Rural Livelihoods Restoration Project and the Mombasa-Nairobi Transmission Line Project. The two loan agreements were signed on June 4, 2009, in Nairobi by the AfDB Resident Representative, Domina Buzingo, and for the Kenyan government by its country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Uhuru Kenyatta. 05-Jun-2009 - The AfDB group, on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, approved an African Water Facility grant of € 999,000 to Swaziland to finance the implementation of Phase II studies of the Lower Usuthu Smallholder Irrigation Project (LUSIP). The studies comprise feasibility studies for a 51 km extension of the main irrigation canal and the preparation of chiefdom development plans which include the provision of water supply and sanitation facilities in an area situated in the south-east of Swaziland.
05-Jun-2009 - Le Conseil d’administration du Fonds africain de développement (FAD) a approuvé, en sa session du 27 mai 2009, à Tunis, l’octroi d’un prêt de 33,6 milliards de F CFA, soit environ 65,65 millions de dollars E.U., pour le financement du Programme de développement de l’irrigation dans le bassin du Bani et à Sélingué (PDI-BS), au Mali.
Ce financement représente environ 31 % du montant total du programme, estimé à 109, 8 milliards de FCFA (environ 215 millions de dollars E.U.).

The Koumra–Sarh Road Development Project is designed to improve the efficacy of the transport logistic chain, the movement of goods and people in the southern part of Chad (Mandoul and Moyen-Chari), reduce transport cost and open up the country.

02-Jun-2009 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on Tuesday, June 2, 2008, approved an emergency humanitarian aid grant of US$1 million to finance repair work on the Bas Mangoky irrigated perimeter levee in Madagascar. The approval is in line with the Bank’s emergency aid policy given that it is designed to finance infrastructure rehabilitation following floods in the region. The financing complements Malagasy government and OPEC Fund contributions estimated at US$1 million and US$0.5 million, respectively.

29-May-2009 - A Senior Loan of up to USD 66 million to finance the Main One Project
Tunis – 28 May 2009- The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) approved financing of USD 66 million towards the Main One Cable Company for developing a submarine fiber optic cable connection along the West African coast. With this investment, the Bank has further expanded its wide support for African ICT projects following investments in the East African “EaSSy” submarine cable and the two satellites Rascom and New Dawn.
