23-Apr-2009 - Tunis, 22 April 2009 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group approved on Wednesday, 22 April 2009 in Tunis a Euro 6 million partial credit guarantee facility to Maghreb Leasing Algérie (MLA). This instrument will enable the company to raise the equivalent of € 12 million in Algerian Dinars through a consortium of local banks.
23-Apr-2009 - Tunis, 22 April 2009 –The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has approved Burundi’s qualification for a debt relief of US$ 150.2 million as at end 2004 Net Present Value (About US$ 241.70 million), after it reached completion point under the Enhanced Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative.
Burundi also qualifies for US$ 15.38 million from the AfDB’s Multilateral Debt Relief Initiative (MDRI) in line with the package approved by the Board on Wednesday, 22 April 2009, in Tunis.
16-Apr-2009 - Tunis, 16 April 2009 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group will help to improve the operational efficiency of airports across Morocco with a loan of € 240 million approved on Wednesday in Tunis by the institution’s Board.
This project involves upgrading facilities at the Casablanca, Fez, Agadir, Marrakech and Rabat, airports, which handle the bulk of air traffic to and from Morocco.

06-Apr-2009 - Tunis, 6 April 2009–The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has approved emergency humanitarian assistance grants of US$ 500,000 each to Djibouti, Mozambique, Togo and Zambia, to enable the countries provide immediate relief to victims of recent natural disasters such as floods and drought.
Djibouti will use the assistance to provide food and other support to 55,000 drought victims in five districts (Arta, Ali Sabieh, Dikhil, Tadjourah and Obock.) as well as 6,000 people at the country’s Ali Addeh refugee camp.

25-Mar-2009 - Tunis, 25 March 2009 - Uganda has secured a concessionary loan of 38 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$55.8 million, to finance a Markets and Agricultural Trade Improvement Project (MATP-1).
Approved on Wednesday in Tunis by the Board of Directors of the African Development Fund, the soft loan window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, the funding will be used to improve marketplace economic and social infrastructure for about 900,000 households in 19 districts in the country.

17-Mar-2009 - The Bank Group on Monday, March 16, 2009, in Tunis signed a loan agreement of Units of Account (UA) 100 million for the Nyamitanga-Ruhwa-Ntendezi-Mwittyazo multinational road project and an electrical interconnection network project of UA 99.77 million for the Nile equatorial lakes region as part of the total cost of UA160 million with the governments of Rwanda and Burundi.
16-Mar-2009 - Tunis, 15 March 2009 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group affirmed its support to a major power project in Egypt on Sunday, 15 March 2009 in Cairo, with the signing of a US$ 450 million loan agreement for the construction of a 1300 MW (2x650 MW) steam turbine power plant near Ain Sokhna seaport on the Gulf of Suez.
13-Mar-2009 - Kigali, 11 March 2009-The Bank Group and Rwanda on March 7, 2009, in Kigali, signed protocol agreements for two grants amounting to US$ 17.2 million to support the second phase of a Science and Technology for Skills Development and Competitiveness and Enterprise Development Projects in the country.
The agreements were signed by Rwanda’s Finance Minister, James Musoni, and the Bank Group’s Field Office Resident Representative, Jacob Diko Mukete.

10-Mar-2009 - Tunis, 7 March 2009 – The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and Côte d’Ivoire on Friday, March 6, 2009, signed three grant agreements worth CFAF 248 billion, that have enabled the country clear its debt arrears to the institution and re-engagement with development partners.
The first agreement was on the Bank’s contribution worth CFAF 184 billion to the country’s arrears clearance. The other agreements with a combined value of CFAF 64 billion aim at supporting the country’s economic and financial reform programme through budget support.
06-Mar-2009 - Tunis, 6 March 2009 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessionary arm of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, has approved a grant of 10 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$14.67 million to finance Malawi’s poverty reduction and public financial management reform programs.
The grant will support key reform measures aimed at enhancing the budget process, audit and procurement functions in order to improve transparency and accountability in the use of public resources.
