25-Feb-2009 - Tunis, 25 February 2009 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group Board of Directors has approved a grant of 14 million Units of Account (UA)*, equivalent to US$ 20.9 million, to help finance a Multi-Country Demobilization and Reintegration Transitional Support Program (MDRTSP) in the Great Lakes Region.
The Program aims at ensuring the effective reintegration of ex-combatants in the Great Lakes Region in order to improve prospects for peace building and economic recovery in the region.
23-Feb-2009 - The Bank Group and Kenya on February 18, 2009, signed two loan agreements worth UA 42 Million for the Community Empowerment and Institutional Support Project (CEISP) and the Technical, Industrial, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training (TIVET) Programme. The CEISP and the TIVET will have UA 17 million and UA 25 million, respectively.
20-Feb-2009 - Tunis, 20 February 2009 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group and the Republic of Benin signed on Friday in Tunis an agreement for an African Development fund (ADF) loan of 25 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 37 million (CFAF 19 billion), to finance the country’s Milk and Meat Sectors Support Project (PAFILAV).
19-Feb-2009 - Tunis–18 February 2009- The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) has approved a USD 30 Million Line of Credit and a USD 7.5 Million equity investment to Shelter-Afrique. The LOC will be used for on-lending to private real estate developers and housing finance companies to finance housing projects and related infrastructure services. The equity investment will strengthen Shelter-Afrique’s capital base.
18-Feb-2009 - Tunis, 18 February 2009–Nearly one million people will directly benefit from a rural drinking water and sanitation program initiated by the Senegalese government with the help of a loan of 30 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 44.76 million, approved on Wednesday in Tunis, by the Executive Directors of the African Development Fund, the concessional window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group.
18-Feb-2009 - Tunis–18 February 2009- The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) approved a US$ 100-million Line of Credit (LoC) to support Nigeria’s Intercontinental Bank Plc. in financing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The LoC will be used for medium- to long-term financing for SMEs in manufacturing, services, and natural-resource projects across Nigeria. These projects will ultimately enhance productive capacity and growth in the country.

12-Feb-2009 - Tunis, 11 February 2009 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group made good its commitment to support Togo’s development efforts on Wednesday in Tunis where the Board of Directors of the Bank Group approved funding to the tune of 12.5 million Units of Account (UA*), about US$ 18.65 million, to help implement the country’s Reform and Governance Support Programme (PARG).
12-Feb-2009 - Tunis, 11 February 2009 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has approved a combined loan and grant of 41 million Units of Account (UA*) equivalent to US$ 61 million, to finance the rehabilitation of key roads in landlocked Burkina Faso.
The funding, which comprises a UA 10-million loan and a UA 31-million grant from the African Development Fund, the concessionary loan window of the Bank Group, will help in the rehabilitation of the Koupela–Bittou–Cinkanse–Togo Border road and the Mogande Access Road.
09-Feb-2009 - Tunis, 8 February 2009 - The Gambia government will benefit from a grant of 4 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 6 million, for the implementation of its Poverty Reduction Budget Support (PRBS) program, following an agreement signed by the African Development Bank Group and the government on Friday, 6 February 2009, in Tunis.
04-Feb-2009 - Tunis, 4 February 2009 - Efforts by the Lesotho government to improve electricity supply in the country received support from the Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group which, on Wednesday in Tunis, approved a combined loan and a grant of 11 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 16.4 million, to finance the country’s Electricity Supply Project.
28-Jan-2009 - Tunis, 28 January 2009 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group Board of Directors has approved a loan of 40 million Units of Account (UA)*, equivalent to US$ 61.6 million, to help finance a Semi-Urban Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation project in Cameroon.
The Project, to be financed by the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessionary window of the AfDB Group, will cover 19 councils in the Central, Far North, Littoral, West, South and South-West provinces of the country.
28-Jan-2009 - Tunis – 28 January 2009 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group approved an equity participation of USD 15 million to finance an Agribusiness Investment Fund (Agri-Vie Fund MPCC). Agri Vie is a private equity fund that makes equity and equity-related investments in agribusiness companies in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The Fund will seek investments in commercially attractive agribusiness projects with sound environmental and social practices.
22-Jan-2009 - Sierra Leone has qualified for Fragile States Facility resources, worth 72.47 million units of account (US$ 112 million), following the approval of the Boards of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on Tuesday, January 21, 2009, in Tunis.
Sierra Leone will thus receive financial assistance to promote economic growth by rehabilitating its infrastructure, improving its agricultural sector and promoting good governance. More specifically, the funds will finance:
15-Jan-2009 - Tunis, January 14, 2009 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a UA* 4.0 million grant, equivalent to US$ 6.16 million, for the Gambian government to finance its Poverty Reduction Budget Support Programme (PRBSP).
The grant, which runs from 2008-2010, is disbursed as follows: UA 3 million from ADF-XI resources, and UA 1 million from AfDB’s surplus account for the Bank’s response to the food crisis on the continent.
14-Jan-2009 - Tunis, 14 January, 2009 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group approved financing for up to Euro 70 million to finance the Enfidha Airport Project in Tunisia.
09-Jan-2009 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group and Cape Verde have signed a loan agreement of UA 5 million, equivalent to US$ 7.4 million or CVE 667,990,000 on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, in Tunis. Approved by the AfDB Board of Directors on December 22, 2008, the loan is designed to finance the Second Budget Support Programme to Cape Verde’s Poverty Reduction Strategy (PASRP-II).
09-Jan-2009 - Banjul, January 9, 2009 - The protocol agreement on a grant to finance the livestock and horticulture development project which was approved by the African Development Fund (ADF) Board of Directors on the December 26, 2008, was signed on Friday in Banjul, The Gambia. The agreement was signed for the country by its Finance and Economic Affairs Secretary of State, Mousa Gibril Bala-Gaye, and AfDB’s Regional Resident Representative in Senegal, Mohamed H’Midouche.
08-Jan-2009 - Tunis, January 7, 2009 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has approved the restructuring of the support programme to National Health Development Programme (Health-II) and has provided a grant of UA 6 million, equivalent to US$ 9.24 million, from the Fragile States Facility (FSF) for Guinea Bissau.
