23-Dec-2008 - Tunis, December 22, 2008 -The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group and Senegal on Monday, December 22, 2008, in Tunis signed a loan agreement worth UA 30 million, equivalent to CFAF 23 billion, to support a poverty reduction strategy programme in the country which had been approved on the same day by the AfDB Board of Directors.

The programme’s UA 9 million financing from the Fragile States Facility (FSF) is enhanced by a UA 3 million grant in the form of an allocation from the Surplus Account of the AfDB to the African Food Crisis Response (AFCR).

16-Dec-2008 - Tunis, 16 December 2008 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has approved supplementary loans of 43.10 million Units of Account (UA*), about US$ 64.13 million, to help finance the rehabilitation and upgrading of three major highways in Ghana. The Tema-Aflao Rehabilitation Road project and the Akatsi-Dzodze-Noepe Road Upgrading project are aimed at promoting regional integration as well as contributing toward the government’s goal of poverty reduction and economic development by reducing travel time and vehicle operating costs.

AfDB Private Sector Obtains Approval for a US$ 30 million Equity Investment in the African Energy Infrastructure Fund

10-Dec-2008 - Tunis, 10 December 2008 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) approved has a US$ 30 million equity investment in the African Energy Infrastructure Fund (AEIF or the Fund), the first Pan-African private equity fund to focus on investing in power and energy projects. Since 1997, the Bank has approved a total of 15 private sector equity investments amounting to approximately USD 380 million.

05-Dec-2008 - La Banque africaine de développement et l’Organisation mondiale de la santé ont procédé, jeudi 4 décembre 2008 à Tunis, à la signature d’un accord de don d’un montant de 15 millions d’unités de compte (environ 23 millions de dollars EU), relatif au financement du programme africain de lutte contre l’onchocercose ou « cécité des rivières ». Les cosignataires de l’accord étaient la vice-présidente de la BAD chargée des opérations sectorielles, Zeinab El-Bakri, et la sous-directrice régionale de l’OMS pour l’Afrique,  le  Dr Matshidiso Moeti.
