AfDB and BOAD Sign FCFA 28.7 Billion Investment Agreement

22-Jul-2008 - Tunis, 22 July 2008 – The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and the West African Development Bank (BOAD) on Monday, in Tunis, signed a financial agreement comprising an equity participation, a line of credit and an institutional support amounting to CFAF 28.7 billion. The support aims at strengthening BOAD’s financial and institutional capacity to consolidate its role as a sub-regional financial intermediary.

16-Jun-2008 - Lusaka, 12 June – The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on Thursday in Lusaka, signed US$ 1.2 million grant agreement with the Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO). AfDB Vice President for Country Policy and Programmes, Joseph Eichenberger, who signed for the Bank, said at a brief ceremony at the ZESCO headquarters that the grant would finance advisory services for two electric power generation projects in Zambia.

03-Jun-2008 - Tunis, 3 June 2008 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group and the Republic of Benin have signed an agreement for a loan of 17.39 million Units of Account (UA), equivalent to US$ 28.2 million (FCFA 11.9 billion) to finance the country’s segment of a power connection line with neighbouring Togo and Ghana. The agreement was signed on Monday in Tunis by the Bank Group’s Vice-President in charge of Infrastructure, Private Sector and Regional Integrations, Mandla Gantsho, and Benin’s Ambassador to Morocco, Bio Torou Guiwa.

ADF Approves US$ 15 Million Supplementary Loan to Fund Nouakchott Water Supply Project

29-May-2008 - Tunis, 29 May 2008 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank Group, approved on Wednesday in Tunis, a supplementary loan of 9.46 million Units of Account* (US$ 15 million) to finance the provision of safe drinking water from the Senegal River (Aftout Essaheli) to Nouakchott, capital of Mauritania.
