ADF Approves US$29.6 Million Budget Support Loan for Poverty Reduction in Zambia

29-Nov-2006 - Tunis, 29 November 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, approved on Wednesday in Tunis a loan of  20 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 29.6 million to finance a budget support programme for poverty reduction in Zambia.

Mauritania: US$ 14.3 Million ADF Loan for Water and Sanitation Project

15-Nov-2006 - Tunis, 15 November 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF),  approved on Wednesday in Tunis, a loan of  9.70 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 14.35 million, to finance a Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project in the southern parts of Mauritania.

Cameroon Secures US$ 66 Million ADF Loan for Road Project

15-Nov-2006 - Tunis, 15 November 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, will support the development of road infrastructure project in Cameroon with the approval of a loan of 44.70 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 66.15 million to finance the Numba-Bachuo Akagbe Road Development Project in the South West Province of the country.

The Gambia: US$ 11.8 Million ADF Grant for Microfinance Development

15-Nov-2006 - Tunis, 15 November 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group will support the development of micro enterprises in The Gambia following the approval on Wednesday in Tunis of a grant of 8 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 11.84 million, to finance an Entrepreneurship Promotion and Microfinance Development Project in the country.

Malawi and AfDB Group Sign US$ 22 Million Grant Agreement to Boost Small Holder Crop Production

10-Nov-2006 - Tunis, 10 November 2006 – Malawi and the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group signed on Thursday in Tunis, agreement for a grant of 15 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to USD 22.2 million, to finance a Small Holder Crop Production and Marketing Project in the country. The Bank Group’s Vice President for Sector Operations, Mrs. Zeinab El Bakri, co-signed the agreement with the Malawian Ambassador to Egypt, Mr.  M’Madi Yahaya.

Uganda: ADF Approves US$ 29.6 Million for Health Sector Project

08-Nov-2006 - Tunis, 8 November 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), has approved a loan of 20 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 29.6 million, to finance the second Health Sector Strategic Plan Support Project (SHSSPP II) in Uganda. The objective of the project is to reduce maternal mortality in selected districts in Uganda and to contribute to the reduction of mental health disorders in the country. Burundi: US$ 10.8 Million ADF Grant for Economic Reform Support Program

08-Nov-2006 - Tunis, 8 November 2006 – The African Development Fund (ADF) is supporting Burundi’s economic reform programme with a loan of 7.3 million Units of Account (US$ 10.8 million or 11,4 billion Burundian francs), approved today by the Fund’s Board of Directors.

Zambia: ADF approves a loan of US$ 22 Million for Water and Sanitation

31-Oct-2006 - Tunis, 31 October 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), has approved a loan of 15 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 22 million for the financing of the national Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Programme in Zambia. The objective of the program is to increase access to safe, reliable and regular supply of water from current levels of 37% to 55% of the rural population by 2010; and to increase access to proper sanitation from 13% to 33% of the rural population by 2010.

Mozambique: US$ 88 million to finance Action Plan for the Reduction of Absolute Poverty II

27-Oct-2006 - Tunis, 27 October 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) on Friday in Tunis, approved a loan of 60 million Units of Account, about US$ 88 million, to finance through Action Plan for the Reduction of Absolute Poverty II (PARPA II), to reduce poverty headcount from 54% to 45% between 2005 and 2009.

Burkina Faso-Niger: US$ 41 Million for Road Construction

27-Oct-2006 - Tunis, 27 October 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, on Friday in Tunis,  approved a loan and a grant amounting to US$ 41.07 million to finance the construction of the Dori-Tera road and transport facilitation in the Ouagadougou-Dori-Tera-Niamey Corridor.

Burkina Faso: US$ 3.6 billion in support of Public Expenditure Programming and Control Institutions

27-Oct-2006 - Tunis, 27 October 2006 – The African Development Fund (ADF) will provide support to Burkina Faso in its efforts to strengthen budget management with a view to helping reduce poverty by improving transparency, reliability and efficiency of budget management. The Board of Directors of the ADF approved today in Tunis a grant of 2.46 million Units of Account (US$ 3.6 billion or CFA 1.9 billion) to finance a project in support of public expenditure programming and control institutions.

Liberia: US$ 4.4 Million ADF Grant in Support of Governance, and Poverty Reduction

27-Oct-2006 - Tunis, 27 October 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF) approved on Friday in Tunis, a grant of 3 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 4.4 million to finance good governance, economic management and poverty reduction in Liberia.

Mozambique: US$ 44 million from ADF to Montepuez-Lichinga Road

27-Oct-2006 - Tunis, 27 October 2006 – The African Development Fund (ADF) is supporting the rehabilitation and maintenance of the Montepuez – Lichinga road corridor in Mozambique with a loan of 30.10 million units of account (US$ 44.4 million or 1.15 billion Meticais), approved today by the Fund’s Board of Directors.

Nigeria - ADF Approves US$ 32.48 million Loan for Food Security Programme

18-Oct-2006 - Tunis, 18 October 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, on Wednesday in Tunis, approved a loan of 22 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 32.48 million to support the National Programme for Food Security (NPFS) in three states in Nigeria:  Ekiti, Ondo and Cross River.

Egypt: AfDB Approves US$ 88 Million Loan and Grant to Finance Micro and Small Enterprises

13-Oct-2006 - Tunis, 11 October 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB), on Wednesday in Tunis, approved a loan and a grant amounting to US$ 88.04 million, to finance a project in support of micro and small enterprises in Egypt. The resources will be managed by a Social Development Fund (SDF).

Tanzania: ADF Approves US$ 59 Million Loan to Finance Campaign to Reduce Maternal Mortality

11-Oct-2006 - Tunis, 11 October 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, approved on Wednesday in Tunis, a loan of 40 Million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 59.05 million, to finance a Maternal Mortality Reduction Support Project in Tanzania.

Zambia: ADB Private Sector supports Copper Mining - USD 43 million to Lumwana Mining Company Ltd.

27-Sep-2006 - Tunis, 27 September 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group approved in Tunis on Wednesday a loan of US $ 43 million to the Lumwana Mining Company Limited. The project is located in the North western province of Zambia. It involves the development of an opencast mine, the construction of a copper concentrate processing plant, a transmission line from Solwezi to Lumwana, water dam and tailings storage facilities, and associated infrastructure.

Rwanda-Burundi - AfDB Group Approves US$ 45 Million for Road Project

20-Sep-2006 - Tunis, 20 Sept 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) on Wednesday in Tunis, approved a grant of 30.20 million Units of Account, about US$ 44.95 million, to finance the Kicukiro-Kirundo Road Project linking Rwanda to Burundi.

Mozambique: US$ 31.14 Million ADF Loan in Support of Energy Sector

13-Sep-2006 - Tunis, 13 August 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF) approved on Wednesday in Tunis, a loan of 26.30 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 31.14 million to finance the  4th Electricity Project in Mozambique. The objective of the project is to provide electricity in order to meet long-term demand and to improve the electricity access, reliability, and quality of supply to consumers in Sofala and Manica provinces.
