WAEMU Countries - US$29.77 Million ADF Grant for Higher Education

06-Sep-2006 - Tunis,  6 September 2006 –  The African Development Bank (AfDB)  Group and the West African Economic and Monetary Union WAEMU, on Tuesday in Tunis, signed a protocol agreement for a grant of  20 million Units of Account (*), equivalent to US$29.77 million dollars,  to finance a higher education support project in the member countries of WAEMU.

Togo: US$ 3.75 Million ADF Grant for Capacity Building and Bird Flu Control Programme

23-Aug-2006 - Tunis, 23 August 2006 – The Government of Togo will receive US$ 3.75 million from the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group to finance its capacity building support project and an Avian Flu control programme following the signing of two grant protocols at the Bank on Wednesday in Tunis.

CAR - US$ 4.9 Million ADF Grant for Capacity Building

22-Aug-2006 - Tunis 22 August 2006 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group and the Central African Republic (CAR) on Monday in Tunis signed a UA 3.3 million grant agreement, equivalent to US$4.9 million, to finance a project for the rehabilitation of economic planning capacity in the Central African Republic. The agreement was signed by the Bank Group’s Vice President, Mandla Sizwe Gantsho, and CAR’s Minister of the Economy, Planning and International Cooperation, Sylvain Maliko, in the presence of the Bank Group’s Secretary-General, Modibo Toure.

Burkina Faso - AfDB Group Supports Development

18-Aug-2006 - US$19 Million ADF Loan and Grant for Rural Development and Protection against Avian Influenza Tunis, 18 August 2006 – The African Development Bank Group and the Government of Burkina Faso on Friday in Tunis signed a loan and a grant agreement amounting to US$ 19.48 million to finance rural development and the National Avian Influenza control Program in Burkina Faso.

COMESA - US$ 8 Million Grant in Support of Public Procurement

14-Aug-2006 - Tunis, 14 August 2006 –  The African Development Bank Group and the Common Market for East and Southern Africa on Monday in Tunis, signed an agreement for a grant of 5.66 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 8.40 million to finance procurement reforms and capacity building project in  COMESA states. Mr. Lobe Ndoumbe, Acting Director, Governance, Economic and Financial Management Department, signed the agreement for the Bank while Mr. Sindiso Ngwenya, Assistant Secretary-General for COMESA.

Tanzania Gets US$ 75 Million Poverty Reduction Loan and US$ 645 million Debt Relief

11-Aug-2006 - Tunis, 11 August 2006 – The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, Mr. Donald Kaberuka and the Tanzanian Finance Minister, Mrs. Zakia Meghji,  on Wednesday in Dar es Salaam signed a loan agreement of  50 million Units of Account, equivalent to US$ 74 million or 926 billion Tanzanian Shillings, to support the government’s poverty reduction efforts and to improve social indicators in the country.

Guinea - ADF Supports Capacity Building and Good Governance

26-Jul-2006 - Tunis, 26 July, 2006 – The African Development Fund will help Guinea achieve rapid and sustainable growth through capacity building in public resource management and promotion of good governance. Towards this end, the Board of Directors of the ADF today approved a grant of 2.5 million Units of Account (US$ 3.7 million or 17.7 billion Guinean francs) to finance a Support Project for Capacity Building in Debt, Public Investment and Control Institutions Management (PADIPOC) in Guinea.

Kenya - ADB Private Sector supports Titanium Mining

26-Jul-2006 - USD 40 million to Kwale Titanium Mine Project Tunis, 26 July 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (ADB) today approved a loan of US $ 40 million to Tiomin Kenya Ltd. for Tiomin Titanium Mine Project in Kwale, near Mombassa, Kenya. The project involves dry mining and processing of titanium-bearings sand into ilmenite, rutile and zircon. The project is a significant contribution to the diversification of the Kenyan economy and the promotion of non traditional exports.

Madagascar: US$ 52 Million Poverty Reduction Support

25-Jul-2006 - Tunis, 24 July, 2006 – In response to the political and economic stability prevailing in Madagascar, the African Development Bank Group has decided to provide a budget support loan to the country to help the government implement its reform programme.
