Morocco-Public Administration Reform Support Programme, Phase II

28-Jun-2006 - Tunis, 28 June 2006 – A new operation of the African Development Bank (AfDB) will support Morocco’s public administration reforms. The AfDB Board today approved a loan of 85 million of Euros to finance the implementation of the second phase of the Public Administration Reform Support Programme (PARSP), launched in 2003. Sudan Gets AfDB Emergency Grant to Contain Avian Influenza

22-Jun-2006 - Tunis, 20 June 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a grant of US$ 500,000 as emergency assistance to support the Sudanese government’s initiatives on preparedness to combat avian influenza in 2006. The Board approved the assistance on 16 June, with a view to helping the country strengthen national capacity to maintain functional laboratories and prepare long-term strategic plans and programmes to contain and control any outbreak of the pandemic.

The Afram Agricultural Development Project (Eastern Region) is expected to help increase agricultural output and household incomes of the project beneficiaries.

The ADF Finances Smallholders Farm Improvement in Kenya

31-May-2006 - Tunis, 31 May 2006 – The Board of Directors of the African development Fund approved a loan of UA 22.98 million and a grant of UA 1.15 million (US$ 35 million cumulatively) to finance the Kimiraoluch smallholder farm improvement project in Kenya. The objectives of the project are to develop sustainable environmentally friendly smallholder irrigation schemes along the shores of Lake Victoria and to increase household income and food security through irrigated smallholder agriculture.

19-May-2006 - Ouagadagou, 17 May 2006 – The African Development Fund and the Government of Guinea Bissau today in Ouagadagou signed a grant agreement of 5.8 million Units of Account, (equivalent to US$ 8.53 million) to finance an agricultural and rural sector rehabilitation project in Guinea Bissau. The agreement was signed by Mrs. Zeinab El-Bakri, ADB Vice President of Operations, and Mr. Marcelino Owono, Minister of Finance and Budget of Guinea Bissau.

19-May-2006 - Ouagadougou, 17 May 2006 – Le Fonds africain de développement et les  Gouvernements de Gambie, Guinée, Mali et Sénégal ont signé ce jour à Ouagadougou, un prêt de 9,76 million d’unités de compte (UC*) équivalant à 14.36 millions de dollars EU et un don de 10,24 UC, équivalant à  15,6 million de dollars EU pour financer un projet  de gestion durable du bétail ruminant endémique en Afrique de l’Ouest (Gambie, Guinée, Mali et le Sénégal).
