AfDB to Host Great Lake Region’s Special Fund for Reconstruction and Development

26-Mar-2005 - Tunis, 26  March 2008 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF) on Wednesday in Tunis approved a proposal for the Bank Group to administer and manage resources for a special fund set up for the reconstruction and development of the Great Lakes Region (SFRD). The request will be submitted to the Bank Group’s Board of Governors for final approval.

AfDB supports Agricultural Development in Mauritius

16-Mar-2005 - The Board of Directors of the ADB Group approved on Wednesday in Tunis, a loan of 7.74 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to US$ 11.77 million to finance the Northern Plains Irrigation Project. The project will ensure the construction of irrigation systems in the northern region of the country, which accounts for 20% of the national sugar cane production and 25% of the food crops.

AfDB Approves Comprehensive Financial Package for PTA Bank

12-Mar-2005 - Tunis, 12 March 2008 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB), through its private sector window, has approved a line of credit of US$ 50 million and an equity capital increase of US$ 6.8 million (payable) as well as US$ 40.8 million (callable) to support the Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development Bank, commonly known as the Preferential Trade Area or "PTA" Bank.

03-Mar-2005 - Le Vice-président pour les opérations Centre et Ouest du Groupe de la Banque africaine développement (Bad), M. Bisi Ogunjobi, et l’Ambassadeur de la République du Mali en Tunisie, ont signé à Tunis, l’accord de prêt pour financer le projet multinational de création de zones libérées de la mouche tsé-tsé et de la trypanosomiase (T & T) en Afrique de l’Est et de l’Ouest. Le Fad accorde au Mali un financement équivalent à 5,930 millions d’Unités de Compte (UC*) soit 9 millions de dollars EU.

02-Mar-2005 - The Line of Credit to Zenith will be used for on lending to its corporate clients, including SMEs through long-term project finance. The AfDB resources will mainly be used to support enterprise expansion and rehabilitation projects, with strong foreign currency income streams. The LOC will cover asset based financing in the manufacturing, agribusiness, transportation, telecommunication, energy, and tourism sectors, amongst others.

AfDB Finances a Solar Thermal Power Station Project

02-Mar-2005 - It seeks to extend electric power generation facilities and develop renewable forms of energy. The specific objectives are to contribute to ensuring steady supply of electricity to the country, diversifying energy sources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It will help raise the installed production capacity of the national electricity authority (ONE) from 200 to 250 MW and to inject about 1,590 GWh into the interconnected system, including 55 GWh from solar energy.

Madagascar Obtains Debt Relief from the AfDB: Reaches Completion Point in HIPC Initiative

02-Mar-2005 - The Bank Group will, as a result, provide irrevocable debt relief of US$ 80 million in nominal terms to the country, with effect from December 2001. The debt relief will be provided by releasing Madagascar from up to 80 percent of its debt service obligations to the Bank Group each year, until the entire amount is delivered sometime in early 2013.
