27/08/2014 - The President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), Donald Kaberuka, and the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for Africa, Dr. Luis Sambo, on Tuesday, August 26 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) cementing a US $60 million Bank grant to help strengthen West Africa’s public health systems in response to the Ebola crisis.

07/11/2013 - The Board of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) approved on Wednesday, November 6 in Tunis the Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea (CLSG) electricity networks interconnection project. The total financing by the African Development Bank Group (African Development Fund, Fragile States Facility and Nigeria Trust Fund) amounts to EUR 145 million, representing roughly 40 per cent of the total project cost. The project will secure power supply for the four Mano River Union member countries, and will be implemented between 2014 and 2017.
26/09/2013 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group met on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 in Tunis and approved US $43.27 million (UA 28.845 million) to finance Sierra Leone’s Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project, which aims to increase access to water and sanitation in the rural areas of the country. The overall goal of the project is to contribute to the Sierra Leone’s Poverty Reduction Strategy Agenda for Prosperity and achievement of the water supply, sanitation and hygiene targets set out in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

20/09/2013 - Executive Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on Wednesday, 18 September 2013 in Tunis approved Sierra Leone’s Country Strategy Paper (CSP) 2013-2017, which outlines the Bank Group’s programmatic support to enable Sierra Leone to transition out of fragility while ensuring the country’s overall development sustainability.
05/04/2013 - As of the 31st of March 2013, the Global Environment Facility’s Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) has granted USD 18.6 million to be channeled by the African Development Bank (AfDB) to Sierra Leone, Uganda and Mauritania for project concepts to help climate-proof their water sectors. This work is regarded as a critical element of these countries’ moves toward climate-resilient poverty reduction and sustainable development.
05/06/2012 - The AfDB and Sierra Leone’s government on June 1, 2012 in Arusha, signed a US$1.2-million grant financing agreement under Pillar III of the Fragile States Facility, to provide urgently-needed support to the country’s financial sector development plan.
