Martha Phiri, Bank Group’s Country Manager to Rwanda, presents her Letters of Accreditation

The African Development Bank Group’s newly appointed Country Manager to Rwanda, Martha Phiri, on January 8, 2018, presented her Letters of Accreditation to Olivier J.P. Nduhungirehe, Rwanda’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and East African Community.

During the audience, the Minister expressed the Government’s appreciation for the strong development partnership that the country enjoys with the Bank. He welcomed the Bank’s sharpened focus on the High 5s (Light up and Power Africa, Feed Africa, Industrialize Africa, Integrate Africa and Improve the quality of life for the people of Africa), which, he observed, were strongly aligned with priorities in the country’s National Strategy for Transformation and its second Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy.

Phiri conveyed compliments of the Bank Group’s President, Dr. Akinwumi Ayodeji Adesina, to the Government and people of the Republic of Rwanda. On behalf of the Bank, she commended the Government for the strong development progress that the country has made and observed that Rwanda has a compelling story to share with the continent, when it comes to successfully establishing strong institutions, improving inclusion and accountability, and strengthening public sector performance.

Phiri expressed the Bank’s readiness to continue pursuing innovative ways to support Rwanda’s homegrown solutions for job creation and economic transformation, in line with the country’s development agenda, the High 5s and the Bank’s Country Strategy Paper.
