The leaders bonded over their mutual desire to see the continent move from darkness to light during a luncheon for heads of state given by the United Nations Secretary General.

The United Nations summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda will be held September 25-27, 2015 in New York and convened as a high-level plenary meeting of the UN General Assembly. The process of arriving at the post-2015 development agenda has been member state-led with broad participation from major groups and other civil society stakeholders.
18/08/2015 - The Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (PARIS21) at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development has selected the African Development Bank’s Africa Information Highway as one of the most innovative initiatives around the world to enable and inform the data revolution and post-2015 Sustainable Development Goal agenda.

In 1993, the United Nations declared March 22 “World Water Day”. For 22 years, the event has been marked globally each March 22 under a different theme. The theme for 2015 is “Water and Sustainable Development” and reflects the important role water plays in the future of the planet.
02/07/2014 - The Government of Rwanda, spearheading an African Union-led initiative, and the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) have signed an agreement aimed at providing at least EUR 50 million (approx. USD 70 million) within an Africa-wide resource mobilization initiative. The initiative will finance improved access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene in Africa. The agreement was signed on the fringes of the 23rd AU Summit held from 26-27 June 2014 In Malabo (Equatorial Guinea).
