21-Mar-2014 - Kellogg Brown & Root LLC, Technip S.A. and JGC Corp. agree to pay the equivalent of US $17 million in financial penalties as part of Negotiated Resolution Agreements with the African Development Bank following admission of corrupt practices by affiliated companies in relation to the award of services contracts for liquefied natural gas production plants on Bonny Island, Nigeria, from 1995 until 2004.

19-Mar-2014 - Together with partners, the Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA) is co-organizing the Africa Forum for Clean Energy Financing (AFRICEF-3) Business Plan Competition. The aim of the competition is to identify and nurture entrepreneurs, start-ups and existing companies with green ambitions in Africa, and serve as a conduit between them and financiers. To be considered, projects must promote clean energy technologies, products or services.

The AfDB Group launches a logo competition for African design students

14-Mar-2014 - The African Development Bank Group has launched a competition for young African design students to design a logo for its newest department, “the African Natural Resources Centre” (ANRC). The winner, who must be enrolled in a design program at an African educational institution, will be invited to the launching ceremony of the ANRC at the AfDB Annual Meetings in Kigali, Rwanda. The contest aims to give exposure to emerging talent on the African continent. The deadline for submission is 14 April.

10-Mar-2014 - The African Development Bank has decided to undertake a comprehensive and detailed review of its procurement policy to ensure that it remains in tune with the changing world situation, particularly in Africa. The review is expected to be transformational – a 1% reduction in procurement costs on the continent would represent an annual savings of approximately US $3 billion, money that could be invested elsewhere.

10-Mar-2014 - The African Development Institute (EADI) of the African Development Bank (AfDB) continues its series of African Officials Training Program on SMEs Policies in Korea.  Eleven officials from Gabon completed on 28 February 2014 two-week training on SMEs in Ansan, Korea.  This training followed those organized for Namibia, Tanzania, Kenya, Ghana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Nigeria and Liberia in 2012 and 2013.
