Le président Kaberuka à Alger pour inaugurer le bureau de la BAD en Algérie

19-Feb-2010 - Tunis, le 12 février 2010 - Le président du Groupe de la Banque africaine de développement (BAD), M. Donald Kaberuka, procèdera, à Alger le 18 février 2010, à l’inauguration officielle du bureau national de l’Algérie. Cette inauguration se déroulera sous le haut patronage des ministres algériens des affaires étrangères, M. Mourad Medelci, et des finances, M. Karim Djoudi, gouverneur de la BAD pour l’Algérie. Plusieurs membres du gouvernement, ainsi que les chefs de missions diplomatiques des pays membres de la BAD y participeront.

AfDB Appoints Chief Economist

18-Feb-2010 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) is appointing Professor Mthuli Ncube as the Bank’s new Chief Economist, to succeed Louis Kasekende who has returned to his country as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda. Professor Ncube, a national of South Africa is currently serving as Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management at the University of the Witwatesrand (Wits) Johannesburg, South Africa. He is also Chairman of the Board of the African Economic Research Consortium.

AfDB Charges Ahead with Successful USD 1 Billion Issue

08-Feb-2010 - Tunis, 5 February 2010 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) successfully launched and priced a three-year USD 1 billion global bond issue on 2 February. The Bank has a borrowing programme of about USD 5.5 billion for 2010 and after four such transactions last year, the present issue is the Bank’s first foray in the global benchmark market this year. The proceeds of the issue will help finance the growing portfolio of AfDB projects in Africa.  In line with the Bank’s top-notch AAA credit rating, the issue was priced at mid-swaps less 2 bps.

African Union Summit: A Call for More Resources for the AfDB

03-Feb-2010 - The 14th ordinary Assembly of the African Union’s Heads of State, held from 31 January to 2 February 2010 in Addis Ababa, called for a resolution to mobilize additional financial resources for the African Development Bank.
