Bank Group President Highlights ADF-11 Achievements in Helsinki

21-Oct-2009 - Speaking on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, in Helsinki, Finland, within the framework of the eleventh replenishment of the African Development Fund’s (ADF-11) mid-term review, the African Development Bank (AfDB) President, Donald Kaberuka, said the review came at a very critical time for the African continent, pointing out that what began as a financial crisis at the global economy’s epicenter had translated into an economic crisis for many countries on the continent.

17-Oct-2009 - At the instance of the AfDB President, Nobel Laureate, Wangari Maathai, has accepted to deliver a lecture on the theme: “Natural Resource Management and Poverty Reduction: Strengthening the Links.” The theme of the lecture, which has been scheduled to take place on October 27, 2009, in Tunis, Tunisia, has been motivated by the need to deepen current understanding of how good practice in the use of natural resources can promote accelerated poverty alleviation, environmental sustainability and development, particularly in rural parts of Africa.

Success of a New AfDB USD 1 bn Global Bond Issue

01-Oct-2009 - Tunis, 30 September 2009 – As part of its 2009 borrowing program, the African Development Bank successfully executed a USD 1 billion benchmark global bond issue in the international market.
