Botswana’s Former President Discusses African Extractive Industries

04-Dec-2008 - Under the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group’s Eminent Speakers Program, Botswana’s former President, Festus Mogae, addressed a seminar at the Bank’s Temporary Relocation Agency in Tunis.  He addressed Bank Staff, officials of international organizations and members of the diplomatic corps on Thursday, December 4, 2008, on the topic "Extractive Industries and Africa’s Development: Lessons from Botswana". He had a special session with the Bank’s board of directors on the same topic after a general session with Bank staff. 

Annual Meetings Information

04-Dec-2008 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group comprising the African Development Bank (ADB) and the African Development Fund (ADF) will hold its Annual Meetings from May 13-14, 2009, in Dakar, Senegal. The meetings will be held at the Convention Centre of the Hotel Meridien President. A web site dedicated to the meetings will be operational once invitations have been sent out to ensure participants take all the necessary measures.

Meeting on the ECOWAS Agricultural and Food Security Policy

AfDB organizes Business Opportunities Seminars in India

02-Dec-2008 - Two Business Opportunities Seminars (BOSs) were organized in collaboration with the Export-Import Bank of India in New Delhi and Mumbai, India from 25 to 27 November 2008.  The purpose of the BOSs was to inform the Indian Business Sectors of the AfDB’s operations and pipeline projects, the current procurement rules and procedures as well as the co-investment opportunities. Presentations were made in sectors such as Infrastructure, Agriculture, Water, Procurement Procedures and Private Sector operations.

AfBD Participates in the Commissioning of work on the Akatsi-Aflao Road

28-Nov-2008 - AfDB Resident Representative in Ghana, Alieu Jeng, on Friday took part in the commissioning of work on the Akatsi-Aflao Road Project. Work on the road was commissioned by Ghanaian President, John Kufuor, in a ceremony attended by traditional rulers, political leaders, development partners and people in the Volta region. The road project, some 58 kilometres, is a component of the larger Tema-Aflao Road project, being funded by the African Development Bank.

Bank Group President Receives ITU Secretary-General

27-Nov-2008 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, Donald Kaberuka, on Thursday in Tunis received the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Secretary-General, Hamadoun Touré, with whom he discussed the modalities for cooperation between both institutions. The AfDB and ITU had agreed on October 30, 2007, on the sidelines of the Connect Africa Summit in Kigali, Rwanda, to collaborate on interconnecting all African capitals and major cities with ICT broadband infrastructure and strengthen connectivity to the rest of the world by 2012.
