12-Apr-2017 - The African Development Bank Group announced today the departure of Dr. Frannie A. Léautier, its Senior Vice-President. Dr. Léautier’s decision to move on was for personal family reasons.
The President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina said, “We will miss Frannie at the Bank. I highly commend her strong dedication and commitment to helping drive institutional reforms at the Bank. I am confident that the solid Senior Leadership Team we have built will enable us to drive towards greater success.”
09-Apr-2017 - The African Development Bank and the Mo Ibrahim Foundation have long had a close affinity and a natural alliance based on shared interests and complementary objectives. These qualities showed clearly at the 10th Mo Ibrahim Governance Weekend in Marrakech, Morocco, where the President spent a productive working weekend in the company of well-known personalities from African politics, commerce, investment and finance.
08-Apr-2017 - Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), accompanied by Yacine Fal, AfDB Deputy Director for North Africa, visited the Marrakech-Menara international airport on Friday, April 7, 2017. The project was financed by the Bank as part of Morocco’s third airport project, which aimed to upgrade infrastructure at Casablanca, Fez, Agadir, Marrakech and Rabat airports.
07-Apr-2017 - The African Development Bank on Thursday 6th April, participated in the 2nd Kaduna Investment Forum (Kadinvest 2.0) in Nigeria’s northern State of Kaduna. Kadinvest 2.0 is an avenue for investors and donors to interact with top government officials and executives in the state, with the view to ensuring that investor/donor funds are targeted to the most viable priority sectors and ultimately have the desired impact on job creation and social development.
07-Apr-2017 - Representatives from WHO, African Development Bank, GAVI, Global Fund, France, JICA, UNAIDS, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNWomen and USAID met in Dakar from 28-31 March 2017 to decide upon the future of Harmonization for Health in Africa (HHA), a mechanism co-founded by AfDB and partners in 2006, to deliver coordinated support to health systems strengthening in African countries.
04-Apr-2017 - At the fourth sustainable energy for all (SEforALL) Africa workshop held 29-30 March 2017 at AfDB offices in Abidjan, as part of the Energy Week, stakeholders called for faster actions towards universal energy access in Africa. Attended by more than 120 stakeholders, the meeting aimed at reinforcing collaboration and joining the forces for universal energy access, taking stock of recent progress and challenges, sharing best practices and innovative solutions and charting way forward.
04-Apr-2017 - The second edition of the International Conference on the Emergence of Africa (ICEA) has concluded its three-day discussions on the theme: “Implementing plans for emergence in Africa.”
ICEA 2017 began its work on Tuesday, 28 March, after the opening ceremony chaired by the President of Côte d'Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, alongside Presidents Alpha Condé of Guinea, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia, Macky Sall of Senegal, and the President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina.
03-Apr-2017 - President Akinwumi Adesina of the African Development Bank (AfDB) left Ahmedabad, India, early on Monday at the end of a four-day official visit to India.
The visit has set the stage for improved cooperation between the Bank and India, as well as India’s relations with Africa in general.
Adesina and his team held meetings with Senior Government Officials and private sector executives on how to scale up cooperation and economic engagements between the three sides.

Adesina visited Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, the capital of the State of Gujarat, home of the late sage and foremost statesman on Sunday, April 2, 2017, the last day of a four-day official visit to India.

Co-organised by the Infrastructure Consortium for Africa (ICA) and country offices of the African Development Bank, the workshops took place in Addis Ababa and Accra on March 14 and 22, 2017, respectively.

30-Mar-2017 - The President of the Republic of Guinea and Chairperson of the African Union, Alpha Condé, paid a courtesy call on African Development Bank Group President Akinwumi Adesina on Tuesday, March 28, in the Bank headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Condé was in the Ivorian capital for the opening ceremony of the 2nd International Conference on the Emergence of Africa.
30-Mar-2017 - On Monday, March 27, 2017, the Nigerian Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, officially inaugurated the Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Program, Phase 1 (ATASP-1) Youth Training Center located on the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA) premises in Kubwa, Abuja. He also kicked off the National Agribusiness Youth Training on seed production and processing technology.
29-Mar-2017 - The African Development Bank top Executive in charge of the African Natural Resources Center Amani Abou-Zeid was elected African Union Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy at the latest AU Summit in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, among a total of eight commissioners.
Abou-Zeid, an Egyptian national, brings to the role a strong technical background and extensive regional and international expertise in development working for the African Development Bank (AfDB), UNDP and USAID, with a focus on infrastructure and energy programs.

22-Mar-2017 - The New Partnership for Africa’s Development Infrastructure Project Preparation Facility (NEPAD-IPPF) hosted by the African Development Bank (AfDB) held discussions with the Infrastructure Project Preparation and Development Unit (PPDU) of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) based in Lomé, Togo, with a view to strengthening collaboration on the preparation of regional infrastructure projects in West Africa. The two institutions agreed to conclude an Operational Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to underpin their cooperation.
22-Mar-2017 - The African Climate Technology Center (ACTC) has the mission of supporting Sub-Saharan countries in scaling-up the adoption of clean technologies for adaptation and mitigation, through activities that include knowledge creation and dissemination, support to policies and enabling environment and support to projects. The ACTC is financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), with the African Development Bank as the implementing organ.
