AfDB Commits to Bolster Namibia’s Economic Development

19-Jun-2009 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group will provide technical and financial support to bolster Namibia’s efforts to grow its economy and weather the global economic crisis. Speaking on Wednesday, 17 June 2009, during a two-day official visit to the country at the invitation of Namibian President, Hifikepunye Pohamba, AfDB President, Donald Kaberuka, commended the government on the efficient manner with which it was handling the impact of the financial crisis.

Eminent Speakers Series: Africa has made steady progress, says JICA President

16-Jun-2009 - The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) President, Sadako Ogata, has said Africa has made steady progress over the years, showing an average economic growth of 6% since the 1990s. Mrs. Ogata made this statement while delivering a lecture in Tunis on the theme: Peace and Development in Africa: Upholding the Conditions” to Bank staff, members of the diplomatic corps, the media and development specialists. The lecture falls within the framework of the Bank’s Eminent Speakers Series.

President Kaberuka to Undertake Two-day Official Visit to Namibia

L’accord a été signé conjointement, au nom du gouvernement sud-africain, par son ministre des relations internationales et la coopération et par son ministre des Finances, qui est également gouverneur de la BAD en Afrique du Sud. L’accord marque une étape importante dans l'établissement de la stratégie de décentralisation de la BAD.

10-Jun-2009 - Bank Group President, Donald Kaberuka, attended the 13th Summit of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) which was held in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, from June 7-8, 2009. The event was marked by the launch of the COMESA customs union.  The summit was attended by nine heads of state and government as well as two vice presidents.
