13/06/2019 - At a ceremony held on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank Group on Wednesday, 12 June, the president of Gambia, Adama Barrow, was awarded the Great Builder Super Prize – The Africa Road Builders Babacar Ndiaye Trophy 2019, for his personal leadership in building the Senegambia bridge that links Gambia to Senegal.

03/04/2019 - Overall economic growth in West Africa is projected to be at 3.6 percent in 2019 and 2020, boosted by the recovery of commodity prices and improved production and service sectors in the region, although challenges and uneven performance would remain, the African Development Bank’s regional economic indicator report revealed.

24/05/2018 - Ministers of Finance, Agriculture and Governors of Central Banks from African countries have called for further innovative financing mechanisms to deal with the impact of climate change, which has led to economic losses from cycles, conflict, insecurity and cross-border political instability in the Sahel region.

African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina attended the discussions by the Bank’s Board of Governors, emphasizing the Bank’s involvement in strengthening the technical cooperation between the Bank and the African Risk Capacity (ARC) to respond to climate change in Africa.

02/12/2016 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Climate Investment Funds (CIF) unit released in November a new study which details regional member countries’ progress in ratifying the Paris Agreement and their efforts to transition Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) into Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). The report found that in many countries, projected contributions will be conditional based upon receipt of climate finance support.

24/11/2016 - The African Development Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ebrima Faal as the Director for the Nigeria Country Office with effect from 1 December 2016. The Nigeria Country Office is the largest single office of the African Development Bank, which oversees a portfolio of over US $5 billion and deals with 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
