15/03/2010 - Global and African leaders are invited by the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Donald Kaberuka, and Mrs. Graça Machel, Founder of New Faces, New Voices (NFNV) to the first “African Women’s Economic Summit” to ensure the inclusion of women in the decisions that are shaping the global financial system. On the 19th of March 2010, Raila Odinga, Prime Minister of Kenya will open the two day Summit at the Windsor Golf and Country Club in Nairobi, Kenya.
11/03/2010 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) participated actively at the 2nd Africa Carbon Forum (ACF) held in Nairobi, Kenya (3-5 March 2010). The ACF is a regional platform established to promote knowledge and information sharing including business facilitation among the main carbon market players in the region.
06/11/2009 - The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) ended on Friday, November 6, 2009, in Bujumbura, Burundi. The closing ceremony was presided over by the Burundian President, Pierre Nkurunziza, and Zambian President, Rupiah Banda, who is also the ICGLR’s current chairperson. Speaking during the conference, Bank Group President, Donald Kaberuka, reaffirmed his institution’s support to the Great Lakes region, recalling that the Bank Group was a co-organizer of the roundtable.
05/11/2009 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group President, Donald Kaberuka, has reaffirmed AfDB support to the Great Lakes Region and the region’s eleven countries at the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) taking place in Bujumbura, Burundi, where the AfDB is attending as a member of the conference and a bilateral partner.
10/06/2009 - The Minister for Planning, National Development and Vision 2030, Mr. Wycliffe Oparanya launched the African Economic Outlook in Nairobi on 4th June 2009. During the launch, the Minister lauded the African Development Bank for successful production of the report which he noted had become a useful reference document for the staff of his Ministry and the entire Government.
28/04/2009 - The Compliance Review and Mediation Unit (CRMU) of the African Development Bank in collaboration with GROOTS, a local NGO, co-organized two community pilot sensitization sessions on the Independent Review Mechanism (IRM) of the Bank in Kenya on April 15 – 16, 2009. The sessions took place respectively in the Ruiru and Juja areas which are crossed by the Thikka Road being financed by the Bank.
01/02/2008 - The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, Donald Kaberuka, held a series of meetings with several African Heads of State on the sidelines of the 10th Summit of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Mr. Kaberuka reiterated the availability of the Bank to support its partners in their development programmes.
