19-Nov-2013 - November 14 marked a milestone in the history of Zaria, Kaduna State, with the launch of its $480 million Water Supply, Expansion and Sanitation Project. The start-up was launched at the site of the newly built water treatment plant in a ceremony with the Governor of Kaduna State; the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris; Ajisegiri Benson, representative of the Minister for Water Resources; and the Country Director of the African Development Bank as guests of honour.

18-Nov-2013 - A critical issue for African countries “Human Resources for Health: foundation for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the post-2015 development agenda” was discussed among 2,000 participants from 80 countries at the Third Global Forum on Human Resources for Health (HRH) which took place November 10-13 in Recife, Brazil. The conference was followed by a Board meeting of the Global Health Workforce Alliance (GHWA) on November 14 to set up the future health workforce agenda, in which the African Development Bank is a member.

The Smallholder Agricultural Productivity Enhancement and Commercialization (SAPEC) project is jointly financed by the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP) and the African Development Bank Group (AfDB). SAPEC project is managed and administered by the AfDB.

AfDB and Namibia sign ZAR 2.9 billion loan agreement for the construction of new Port of Walvis Bay Container Terminal

11-Nov-2013 - The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and Namibia on Friday, November 8, 2013 signed a ZAR 2.9 billion (US $338 million) sovereign guaranteed loan to the Nambian Ports Authority (Namport) to finance the construction of the new container terminal at Port of Walvis Bay and a UA 1.0 million grant (US $1.5 million) to the Government of Namibia for logistics and capacity building complementing the port project loan. The project was approved by the AfDB Group in July 2013.
