AfDB Strengthens Cooperation with Nordic Development Fund in Climate Change Initiatives

16-Sep-2013 - The Nordic Development Fund Manager for Southern Africa, Johanna Palmberg, visited the African Development Bank’s Zambia Field Office (ZMFO) on September 13, 2013 to discuss the ongoing green growth initiatives in Zambia pioneered by the AfDB, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED). The initiatives were launched with workshops in January and May 2013.

French Development Agency and AfDB to strengthen cooperation through concrete projects

AfDB provides US $20.1 million to support clean energy in the Comoros

The financing source is mobilized from the Bank’s resources: (i) US $8.3 million from the African Development Fund (ADF), and (ii) US $12.1 million from the Fragile States Facility.

AfDB extends US $150 million to Mauritius Commercial Bank to enhance lending to African businesses

11-Sep-2013 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved on Wednesday, September 11 a financing package consisting of US $120 million multi-sector line of credit (LOC) and US $30 million subordinated debt to The Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB). This financing package will allow MCB to increase its foreign currency lending to medium- and large-sized enterprises operating in Mauritius, neighbouring countries and mainland Africa, thereby enhancing sustainable and inclusive growth through private sector development in the region.

The notes are denominated in Brazilian Real and have a three-year tenor. This is the first transaction the two organizations have collaborated together in this field.
