21-Jul-2013 - A delegation from the United Nations University’s Institute for Natural Resources in Africa arrived at the African Development Bank’s temporary relocation agency offices in Tunis on Monday, July 22, on a three-day mission.
The delegation, led by the Institute’s Director, Elias Ayuk, will hold talks with the senior management of the Bank about continuing collaboration between the two organizations regarding the protection of Africa’s natural resources and the promotion of a green economy.

20-Jul-2013 - In a joint declaration issued in Tunis, Tunisia, on 19 July 2013, African institutions endorsed the AfDB’s Africa50 Fund as Africa’s vehicle to facilitate large-scale mobilization of resources and to unlock international private financing with a view to addressing Africa’s infrastructure gap. 18-Jul-2013 - The annual growth rates of mobile phone penetration in the developing world have ranged between 30% and 50% or higher, and penetration has been rapidly increasing. In Africa, mobile phone penetration has exploded during the last ten years. Between 1998 and 2009, Africa witnessed an increase from 0.53 per 100 people to 42.82 per 100 people. At the same time, the average price of a 2G handset decreased from USD 150 in 2003 to USD 75 in 2008. Africa is now considered to be the fastest emergent continent for ICT sector growth.

17-Jul-2013 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved today a US $75-million medium-term line of credit (LoC) to Fidelity Bank Plc to fund selected projects in sectors that are critical to Nigeria’s transformation agenda and economic growth such as infrastructure, manufacturing and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The LoC will be complemented by AfDB arranged-syndicated financing of up to US $75 million on a best-effort basis.

At the invitation of the World Trade Organization, African Development Bank Group President Donald Kaberuka participated in the opening day of the 4th WTO Global Review of Aid for Trade (AfT) on July 8 in Geneva. The AfT review took place from July 8-10 under the theme “Connecting to value chains”.
11-Jul-2013 - Africa is now the fastest growing continent in the world, the African Development Bank’s Annual Development Effectiveness Review 2013 states.
The report, just published, says this growth has been driven mainly by improved economic governance on the continent and the private sector.
“Africa’s economic growth could not have happened without major improvement in economic governance.
