The AfDB’s Open Data Platform achieves continent-wide coverage

11-Jul-2013 - The African Development Bank’s Open Data Platform is now operational for the entire African continent. This follows the completion in July 2013 of the last phase of the project for the following 14 African countries: Benin, Comoros, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Kenya, São Tomé and Príncipe, Sierra Leone, Swaziland, and Togo. Statistical data for all 54 African countries are now available to all users.

Work on Agenda 2063 was initiated by the heads of the AfDB, the African Union Commission, and the during their meeting in January 2013 to deliberate on Africa's development in the next 50 years. It is an attempt to ensure that Africa's future is driven by policies and programs created mainly by African institutions.

AfDB Trains on Debt Management in Sudan

28-Jun-2013 - A training on Debt Sustainability Analysis, organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB), kicked off in Khartoum on 23 June 2013, to train Sudanese experts dealing with Sudan’s domestic and external debt. The ten day training workshop will run from Sunday 23 June till 04 July 2013 and will benefit 25 participants, drawn from Debt Management Units of the Central Bank of Sudan and the Ministry of Finance and National Economy.

Ghana and Islamic Development Bank join African Legal Facility

28-Jun-2013 - “Ghana and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) have joined the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF), bringing its total membership to 54,” the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) said in a statement  released on 26 June 2013. Ghana is now the 48th country to join the facility and the IsDB the sixth international organization to become a member.

AfDB Supports Energy Access Project in Rwanda

27-Jun-2013 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has approved a combined loan and grant amounting to US$ 41 million in support of an energy project in Rwanda.  The Scaling up Energy Access Project approved on 26 June in Tunis is designed to support the Government’s strategic vision and its 2013-2018 Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy (EDPRS-2).
