Delegation from China’s State Administration of Foreign Exchange Visits the Bank Group

01-Oct-2012 - A two-man delegation from China’s State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE), led by its Deputy Director General, Xu Bing, paid a visit Thursday to the Bank Group in Tunis and was received by President Donald Kaberuka. Discussions with President Kaberuka revolved around cooperation between the two institutions.  

A Workshop on Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development

25-Sep-2012 - La BAD, la FAO et le Sénégal ont signé le vendredi 21 septembre 2012 à Dakar, un accord de don d’un million de dollars pour l’aide d’urgence au monde rural. Le ministre  sénégalais de l’économie et des finances, gouverneur de la BAD pour le Sénégal, Amadou Kane,  le représentant résident de la FAO, Amadou Ouattara et  la représentante résidente régionale de la BAD au Sénégal, Leila Mokaddem,  sont les cosignataires du document d’accord tripartite de don aux populations sinistrées frappées successivement par la sécheresse et les inondations.

AfDB Inaugurates Liberia Field Office

21-Sep-2012 - At Sophie, Old Congo Town, in Monrovia on Wednesday, AfDB President Donald Kaberuka and Liberia’s Finance Minister and AfDB Governor Amara Konneh jointly unveiled the plaque and cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Bank’s Liberia Field Office (LRFO). The office will bring the Bank’s services closer to its client, speed up its development assistance and deepen its involvement in aid coordination in the county.

AfDB Supports Liberia’s Public Financial Management Reform

21-Sep-2012 - The African Development Bank Group and the Government of Liberia have signed a US $4.6-million grant agreement to support the country’s Integrated Public Financial Management Reform Program. The agreement was signed on Tuesday in Monrovia by the Bank’s Resident Representative, Margaret Hilda Kilo, and Finance Minister Amara Konneh, in the presence of AfDB President Donald Kaberuka, who led a Bank delegation on a two-day working visit.

AfDB Approves US $348 Million in Funding for Kenya-Ethiopia Electricity Highway

20-Sep-2012 - The Board of the African Development Fund approved on Thursday, September 20, US $348 million in funding for a US $1.26-billion electricity highway project between Kenya and Ethiopia. Due for commissioning in November 2017, the project involves the construction of a 1,068-kilometre high-voltage direct current 500 kV transmission line between the two countries. It also includes putting up of associated converter stations at Wolayta-Sodo (Ethiopia) and Suswa (Kenya), with a power transfer capacity of up to 2,000 MW.
