16-May-2012 - The outgoing Dean of the Board of the African Development Bank Group, Hassan Khedr, received commendations from management and colleagues at the Boards’ regular session on Wednesday in Tunis.
AfDB President, Donald Kaberuka thanked the outgoing Dean for his immense contributions to the Bank’s work as chair of the Committee on Administrative Matters concerning the Board of Directors (AMBD) and for the effective representation of his country, Egypt, and Djibouti.
16-May-2012 - An African Development Bank (AfDB) mission is currently in Khartoum, Sudan, working with Government authorities and other stakeholders to develop a program intended to build resilience to droughts and provide sustainable livelihoods in the Greater Horn of Africa (GHOA). The mission is headed by AfDB livestock specialist, Umar Lawal, together with Abdul B. Kamara, AfDB’s Resident Representative for Sudan, and various experts from the AfDB and from the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).

The issue is of direct concerns to development finance institutions (DFIs), including the AfDB.

It goes on to explore how political transitions underway will shape North Africa’s options in meeting its economic challenges.

15-May-2012 - La BAD et l’office chérifien des phosphates (OCP) ont signé, le 10 mai 2012 à Casablanca, un accord de prêt de 250 millions de dollars dans le cadre du programme d’investissement de l’OCP. Ce prêt est le premier financement non-souverain que la BAD accorde à une entreprise marocaine. Il constitue un repère important dans la vision de la Banque en matière de promotion des entreprises africaines.

The launch of The New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition coincides with the Group of Eight (G8) Summit, which is being hosted at Camp David, the U.S. Presidential retreat near Washington. The G8 consists of the world’s largest economies.

09-May-2012 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the International finance corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, will host the 3rd Multilateral Development Banks’ Conference on Private Sector Integrity from 10 to 12 May, 2012, at the Movenpick Hotel, Gammarth, in Tunis, Tunisia.
The conference will focus on operational elements of Multilateral Development Banks’ integrity standards and how these are implemented in projects and operations.
