AfDB-Ghana: President Atta-Mills Cuts Sod for Accra Road project
30-Mar-2011 - Ghana’s President John Atta-Mills on Tuesday, 29 March 2011 in Accra, cut the sod for the beginning of the Awoshie-Pokuase road and community development project. The project, which was approved by the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group Board in 2009, involves constructing the 15 km road north-west of Accra. The civil works include secondary roads, and key community-upgrading infrastructure such as drainage, markets, water supply, schools, health centers and lorry parks.
AfDB Launches Environmental & Social Procedures Basics Brochure
29-Mar-2011 - A two-day AfDB/GIZ workshop on strategic environmental and social assessment ended on March 22, 2011 in Tunis with the presentation of an AfDB brochure on “Environmental and Social Procedures Basics for Public Sector Operations”. The brochure, produced by Compliance and Safeguards Division, provides a simplified step-by-step project cycle and an action/output guide for Bank staff in environment and social assessment operations.

Environment Seminar to Deepen AfDB Commitment to Africa’s Green Economy

The seminar aimed at deepening the AfDB’s implementation of more environmentally and socially sustainable projects and programmes. Coodinated by the Compliance and Safeguards Division, the seminar broeght together at Hotel Sharaton, Tunis, leading international agencies involved in implementing strategic environmental and social assessments.
