Maputo, Mozambique, 12 May 2008 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group realized US$ 592.75 million net income from its 2007 operations with a 59% increase in project and programme approvals along with considerable increase in disbursements during the year ended 31st December 2007.

The 2005 Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness committed donors and partner countries to substantial changes to improve the effectiveness of aid to ensure that it achieves a greater impact on development.

Dans la Déclaration de Paris de 2005 sur l'efficacité de l'aide, les donateurs et les pays partenaires s'étaient engagés à mettre en œuvre des changements substantiels pour renforcer l'efficacité de l'aide afin de renforcer son impact sur le développement.

29-Apr-2008 - A three-day seminar on the management of proceeds from extractive industries in Africa, especially oil a and gas, organized by the African Development Bank Group in conjunction with other development partners opened in Libreville, Gabon, on Monday 28 April 2008.
Participants include African government representatives and ranking officials from the financial and petroleum sectors as well as representatives of the private sector and civil society of African countries.
29-Apr-2008 - Kigali, Rwanda, 29 April 2008 – More than 200 delegates meet in the Rwandan capital Kigali on Tuesday and Wednesday (29-30 April 2008) for the Africa Regional Preparatory Workshop for the High-Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness to be held in Accra, Ghana, from 3-4 September 2008.
The delegates to the meeting organized by the African Development Bank Group, the Governments of Rwanda and Ghana, will discuss progress in the implementation of the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness.

25-Apr-2008 - L’ancien président de la Banque mondiale (BM), James Wolfenshon, a estimé vendredi à Tunis que la Banque africaine de développement (BAD) dispose sur les questions africaines d’une expertise que les autres institutions multilatérales n’ont pas.
« Je ne suis plus à la BM depuis deux ans, je ne sais pas ce qui s’y passe aujourd’hui. Mais, je suis sûr que la BAD tient une place essentielle dans le fonctionnement du système multilatéral », a-t-il précisé lors d’un point de presse.

25-Apr-2008 - The Third High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness will be held in Accra, Ghana, from 2-4 September 2008. The African Development is a lead sponsor of the Accra Forum which will identify challenges and actions needed to overcome them to ensure improvements in aid effectiveness for 2010 and beyond.
25-Apr-2008 - The former World Bank President, Mr. Wolfensohn, gave a lecture on Friday in Tunis on the theme "Africa in a Global World: Partnerships for Success", as part of the Bank Group’s Eminent Speakers Programme.
Upon his arrival in Tunis on Thursday, Mr. Wolfensohn paid a courtesy call on the African Development Bank President, Donald Kaberuka, and held a working session with experts from the Chief Economist’s complex.

24-Apr-2008 - The Asian Development Bank hosted a Roundtable on Trust Fund Management and Co-financing for Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) in Manila, the Philippines on 17-18 April 2008.
The AfDB delegation was led by Kazumi Larhed, head of Partnerships and Cooperation Unit (ORRU). The World Bank, the IFC, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Inter-American Development Bank attended the 2-day meeting.
23-Apr-2008 - Tunis, April 23rd, 2008–The African Development Bank (AfDB), the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) are today launching in Tunis the Arabic Glossary of Key Terms in Evaluation and Results Based Management.
The launch of this Glossary takes place during a workshop on Evaluation and Public-Private Partnerships hosted by the Operations Evaluation Department of the AfDB, held in Tunis from 21 to 25 April, gathering Multilateral Development Banks and other organizations.
