Bank Group Participates in Discussions on Greenbelt

14-Feb-2008 - The Bank Group participated in a two-day meeting of experts and the ministerial conference on the great greenbelt and the inland basin project, which took place from February 12-13, 2008, in Saly Portudal, Senegal. The great greenbelt is an initiative of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD) that has been endorsed by the African Union and it is part of NEPAD’s environment action plan.

AfDB-IFAD to Revive Partnership-President Kaberuka to Deliver Keynote Address at IFAD Governing Council Meeting

Mozambique Ready to Host AfDB Annual Meetings

08-Feb-2008 - Tunis, 8 February 2008 – The Mozambican government is strongly committed to hosting the 2008 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group scheduled to take place in Maputo from 14 to 15 May 2008, says Mozambique’s Planning and Development Minister and AfDB Governor for the country, Aiuba Cuereneia. Mr. Cuereneia said this on Friday in Tunis while leading a Mozambican delegation that was at the Bank to discuss issues related to the annual Meetings with Bank officials.

President Donald Kaberuka Visits Djibouti

He was received in audience by Djibouti’s President, Omar Guelleh. He met with the country’s Prime Minister, Dileita Mohamed Dileita, as well as with the governor of the central bank.

23-Jan-2008 - Senegalese President, Abdoulaye Wade, on Tuesday in Sangalkam, Senegal, inaugurated a CFAF 45 billion Kounoune power plant financed by the Bank Group and other development partners such as the International Finance Corporation (SFI), PROPARCO, the West African Development Bank (BOAD) and the West African Banking Corporation (CBAO). The International Development Association (IDA) provided a partial risk guarantee and the Moroccan Bank for External Trade Capital (BMCE) served as a commercial broker.
