08-Mar-2016 - On Tuesday, March 8, 2016, the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) met in the Bank’s Sudan Field Office in Khartoum to explore possibilities of collaboration in the energy sector. The UNDP is piloting a project called Solar 4 Health which seeks to identify sustainable energy solutions for equitable access to health services. The estimated cost of the proposed program is USD 85 million.

04-Mar-2016 - A high level meeting took place on February 25, 2016 between a delegation of the West African Health Organization (WAHO) and the Human and Social Development Department (OSHD) of the African Development Bank to discuss further collaboration between the two institutions. The meeting was held at the Bank’s headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
Sunita Pitamber, OSHD’s Acting Director, lauded the partnership, especially its joint efforts to fight the recent Ebola epidemic that affected the region.

25-Feb-2016 - President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, has reiterated the institution’s support to Zambia, especially the energy sector. He mentioned that reforms in the sector were critical to boost the country’s economy.
“We will work with the Government and regulatory agencies to improve management of the utility,” he said during a recent visit to the southern African country. "One of the Bank’s biggest priorities is to empower Africa. We need to unlock all the potential we have, whether it is solar, geothermal or hydro.”
