ADF contributes to Education Sector Development in Eritrea

02-Mar-2005 - The Acting Vice President for the North, South and East operations of the ADB Group, Mrs. Zeinab El Bakri, and the Minister of National Development of Eritrea, Dr. Woldai Futur, signed today in Tunis a loan and grant agreement for the Support to Education Sector Development Program. The Bank Group’s contribution for the financing of this projects amounts to a loan of 13.6 million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to 20.8 million US dollars, and a grant of UA 5.03 million, equivalent to US$ 7.7 million.

Multinational Electric Power Grids Study: ADF supports Energy Integration in Western Africa

26-Jan-2005 - Tunis, 26 January 2005 – The African Development Bank (ADB) Group has decided to support the development of integrated hydro-electric power in West Africa. River basins in the sub-region offer an opportunity for the development of the largely unexploited energy potential. Hydropower would help end the persistent problems of power shortage and the heavy dependence on imported petroleum products for the production of electricity through the inter-connection of the sub-regional power grids.

AfDB, WAEMU Seek to Strengthen Cooperation
