President Kaberuka Begins Official Visit to Mozambique

The President of the African Development Bank Group, Donald Kaberuka, arrived in Maputo on Sunday for his first official visit to Mozambique, from South Africa where he participated in a progressive Governance Summit.

In the Mozambican capital, Mr. Kaberuka on Monday visited a water supply project financed by the ADB.

He also held a meeting with Prime Minister Luisa Diogo, who, along with other members of government held discussions with the ADB President over lunch.

He also visited the Massingir Dam being rehabilitated with Bank funding in Gaza Province, some 330 km north of Maputo. During the visit, Mr. Kaberuka emphasized the importance of the dam saying that "such a project should result in the creation of wealth and space for other projects".

He will be received in audience on Tuesday by the President of Mozambique, Mr. Armando Guebeza and confer with business captains before holding a working lunch with representatives of development agencies based in Maputo.
