AfDB President Adesina leads Bank mission to Japan, Korea and China

AfDB approves loan for Rwanda’s first regional hydropower public-private partnership project

17-Mar-2016 - The African Development Bank Group announced on 16 March a US$ 24 million loan to support Rwanda’s contribution to the development of the Multinational Ruzizi III Hydropower Project. The project is a joint initiative of the three Great Lakes Region countries – Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda – and will increase electricity trading within the region and beyond.

AfDB President commits to support Liberia’s transformation agenda

15-Mar-2016 - The President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, has pledged to support Liberia’s effort to diversify its economy, with a particular emphasis on the agriculture and power sectors. Adesina, who led an AfDB delegation to Liberia last week, gave the pledge at an official dinner in Monrovia. He assured President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and her Government that the Bank would do its utmost to support Liberia.

New AfDB partnership to stem gender-based cyber violence

08-Mar-2016 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) has launched a partnership with Facebook, the Kenya ICT Authority, Judiciary and the Kenya Police to increase awareness on cyber-based gender violence.
