African Legal Support Facility and partners launch French version of handbook on Power Purchase Agreements

09-Dec-2015 - The African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) and partners launched the French version of the handbook “Understanding Power Purchase Agreements” (PPA) in Paris, France, on December 8, 2015.  The handbook has been published through a joint partnership with the ALSF and US Department of Commerce’s Commercial Law Development Programme (CLDP) as part of the Power Africa initiative. The handbook is intended to simplify legal terms of PPAs in order to help reduce the time required to negotiate sustainable and bankable projects.

AfDB External Representation Office for Asia hosts doing business with Africa seminars for Korean private sector

09-Dec-2015 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) External Representation Office for Asia (ASRO) hosted two seminars for the Korean public and private sector and officially launched its Korean language website in Seoul on November 30. The events were supported by the Bank’s main counterparts – the Ministry of Strategy and Finance (MOSF) of the Republic of Korea and Korea Eximbank.

AfDB approves US $53 million for water in Zimbabwe and financial reform in Chad

World Bank and AfDB announce $600 million in support for hydrometeorology in Africa

05-Dec-2015 - The World Bank in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the World Meteorological Organization has announced a US $600 million programme to improve hydrometeorological services in 15 West African countries. The programme, Strengthening Climate Change and Disaster Resilience in Sub-Saharan Africa, aims at improving meteorological services in Africa where most countries have poor infrastructure and lack modern technology for reliable and timely capture and transmission of meteorological information to the public.
