19-May-2005 - L’objectif majeur de ce projet est de contribuer à la sécurité alimentaire de la population de la zone concernée. Plus spécifiquement le projet permettra d’augmenter la productivité des ressources naturelles sur une base durable. Le projet permettra également l’introduction de pratiques culturales et de variétés améliorées des principales cultures de la zone du projet. Il permettra également le désenclavement des zones de production en appui à la commercialisation des intrants et des produits agricoles.

Cofinancing Opportunity: Creation of Sustainable Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Free Areas in Africa

18-Apr-2005 - The "Creation of Sustainable Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Free Areas in West and East Africa" is a first phase project of a 37-country programme called the Pan-African Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Eradication Campaign (PATTEC). PATTEC is one of the programmes approved by the African Union under the NEPAD Initiative. The programme strategy is based on the concept of Integrated Pest Management and the Area-Wide Approach. It will be implemented in a sustained and continuous manner through phased series of interlinked and coordinated projects.

Madagascar Obtains Debt Relief from the AfDB: Reaches Completion Point in HIPC Initiative

02-Mar-2005 - The Bank Group will, as a result, provide irrevocable debt relief of US$ 80 million in nominal terms to the country, with effect from December 2001. The debt relief will be provided by releasing Madagascar from up to 80 percent of its debt service obligations to the Bank Group each year, until the entire amount is delivered sometime in early 2013.
