La BAD injecte 80 milliards de FCFA dans la voirie de desserte au Nord du Sénégal

22-Jan-2016 - La Banque africaine de développement (BAD) et le Sénégal ont signé le 22 janvier 2016 à Dakar, un accord de prêt d’un montant de 120,81 millions d’euros (soit 80 milliards de  francs CFA) en appui à un projet dont le montant total s’élève à 361,15 millions d’euros (soit environ 237  milliards francs CFA). Il s’agit de la réhabilitation de la route nationale n°2 et de désenclavement de l’île à Morphil (490 km de la capitale), dans le cadre d’un projet intégré combinant infrastructure routière et appui aux activités des populations locales.

Rwanda wins US $840,000 SEFA grant to promote green mini-grids

21-Jan-2016 - At the end of 2015, the Government of Rwanda was awarded a US $840,000 grant from the African Development Bank-hosted Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA) to promote green mini-grids (GMGs) and pave the way for private investments in this sub-sector. The project is expected to support Government efforts to provide electricity connection to at least 145,000 rural households and improve off-grid access rate from 5% to 22% by 2018.

€89-million AfDB loan to finance Agricultural Value Chain Development Project in Cameroon

AfDB provides universal water supply and sanitation coverage for four towns in Ethiopia by 2020

20-Jan-2016 - Four Ethiopian towns will achieve universal coverage for water supply and sanitation by 2020 through a new loan from the African Development Bank (AfDB). Approved on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, the USD 76.11-million loan will improve the lives of nearly one million people in the towns of Adama, Adwa, Bichena and Gode and the nearby villages. “The project will help increase both water supply and sanitation coverage to 100%,” said Mohamed El Azizi, Director, Water and Sanitation, at the AfDB.

AfDB approves EUR 24 million to boost Cameroon’s energy production

21-Dec-2015 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), on December 17, 2015 in Abidjan, approved EUR 24 million to fund the expansion of Kribi Power Plant, an existing natural gas plant in Cameroon, operating since May 2013. The expansion of Kribi (Kribi II) consists of the development, design, construction, operation and maintenance of a 125 MW gas-fired power plant extension. Upon completion, Kribi Power Plant’s aggregate capacity will be 340 MW.

18-Dec-2015 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF) on 15th December 2015 approved a grant worth USD 21 million to finance Mozambique’s Economic Governance and Inclusive Growth Program Phase II (EGIGP). The program is part of a three year programmatic series, covering the fiscal years 2014, 2015 and 2016. It builds on the first phase of the operation, which was approved in 2014 and has since been disbursed. 

AfDB approves regional hydropower PPP to increase electricity supply and integration in Burundi, DRC, Rwanda

18-Dec-2015 - The African Development Bank Group approved, on Wednesday, December 16, USD 138 million[1] of loans and grants toward a project which will help develop the energy sector in Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda through the construction of the Ruzizi III Hydropower Plant and associated transmission line. The project is expected to increase electricity trading between the Economic Community of the Great Lakes Countries (ECGLC) through the supply of reliable and sustainable clean energy.
