AfDB supports small-scale irrigation in Kenya’s rural communities

23-Nov-2015 - In its bid to bolster Africa’s ability to feed itself, the African Development Bank (AfDB) is targeting rural communities with interventions to improve yields, incomes and nutrition practices. The AfDB Board of Directors met on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in Abidjan and approved a US $39.55-million loan and a US $24-million grant from the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP) to Kenya to finance the Small Scale Irrigation and Value Addition Project (SIVAP).

AfDB Approves Ghana’s Public Financial Management and Private Sector Competitiveness Support Program

20-Nov-2015 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank on Wednesday, 18 November 2015 approved a US$ 56.2-million African Development Fund loan to support Ghana’s Public Financial Management and Private Sector Competitiveness Program. This general budget support operation is the first in a two-year programmatic series of US$ 100 million that will be implemented in 2015 and 2016.

19-Nov-2015 - A key activity of the just concluded Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) Week was a site visit to the Abidjan-Lagos corridor, where participants came face to face with the reality of integrating Africa through infrastructure. The Abidjan –Lagos Corridor is a PIDA flagship project. The 1,028-kilometre road, under construction, connects Abidjan, Accra, Cotonou, Lagos and Lome, considered to be West Africa’s largest and most economically dynamic cities, with a combined population of more than 35 million people.

Skills development critical for successful public private partnerships

06-Nov-2015 - A five-day training on Public Private Partnerships (PPP) organised by the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) started on November 2, 2015 at the African Development Bank offices in Abidjan.  The workshop is intended to provide 35 government officials from 10 francophone African States with the capacity to structure PPP projects in an effort to efficiently bridge Africa’s infrastructure financing needs.

ALSF concludes training on negotiating financial agreements

06-Nov-2015 - The African Legal Support Facility (ALSF); on November 6, concluded a five-day training workshop for government officials on negotiating financial agreements.  Twenty officials representing the Ministry of Finance and Economic Cooperation and other government agencies participated in the training designed to expose officials to aspects of negotiation of financial instruments so that they are better able to explore, develop, and implement strategies to conclude balanced agreements. 

AfDB mitigates Cameroon’s Eurobond Currency Risk
