The Bank Group approves second phase of Uganda Markets and Agricultural Trade Improvement Program

10-Dec-2014 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group, during its ordinary sitting on Tuesday December 10, 2014 in Abidjan, approved the second phase of Uganda’s Markets and Agricultural Trade Improvement Program (MATIP 2), aimed to reconstruct an additional 11 of the remaining 14 markets in four regions in the country.

SEFA to help scale-up innovative clean cooking business in Nigeria

10-Dec-2014 - The Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA) approved a US $580,000 preparation grant for the expansion of Green Energy & Biofuels (GEB) Bio-refinery project in Nigeria. The project is a pilot of Small & Medium Entrepreneurship Fundamentals (SMEFunds), a social enterprise based in Lagos, and the first bio-energy cooking fuel production facility and distribution network in Nigeria.

10-Dec-2014 - The African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) convened a high-level ministerial briefing meeting on the negotiations taking place in the UN Climate Change Conference (COP20). The representatives of the African Group of Negotiators (AGN) presented the status of the negotiations and Africa’s key messages were conveyed. The outcomes of the negotiations will feed into the new global climate change agreement which should be signed next year in Paris and should enter into effect by 2020.

€1.2 billion in follow-on projects leveraged by the African Water Facility

04-Dec-2014 - The African Water Facility (AWF), an initiative of the African Ministers' Council on water, has attracted €1.2 billion of follow-on investments for water management projects pledged by donors. “This is a major achievement for AWF's 10th anniversary,” said Akissa Bahri, the Coordinator of the AWF. The announcement was made during the 14th Governing Council Meeting, held from November 28-29 in Tunis, Tunisia.
