09/07/2015 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group announced on Wednesday, June 8 the approval of €16.7 million (a €9-million loan and a €7.7-million grant) in financing toward a program which aims to strengthen the electricity distribution network in Guinea Bissau’s capital by rehabilitating the facilities of 31,000 existing subscribers; connecting 10,500 new subscribers; and improving the commercial management and governance of the public utility, the National Electricity and Water Corporation (company named EAGB).

29/05/2015 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and Egypt, on May 29 in Abidjan, signed two loans and a letter of agreement. The two loans are worth US $140 million – US $90 million from the AfDB window and US $50 million loan from the Africa Growing Together Fund (AGTF). The letter of agreement concerned a grant from the Middle Income Countries (MICs) Technical Assistance Fund of UA 1.2 million (approximately $1.7 million).

13/05/2015 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, a USD 50 million investment in CEC Africa Investments Limited, a multinational power company headquartered in Nigeria and Zambia. CEC Africa (CECA) seeks to acquire and develop distribution and transmission assets and complementary greenfield generation projects throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. By investing across the energy value chain (generation, transmission, and distribution), CECA aims to reduce electricity losses while improving the overall economics in Africa’s power sector.
