13-Jul-2017 - The President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, will make an official visit to Yaounde, Cameroon, from 15 to 18 July 2017.
During his stay in Cameroon, Adesina will meet with President Paul Biya, key government officials and development partners.
This visit aims to strengthen existing ties between Cameroon and Africa’s premier development finance institution.

12-Jul-2017 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group has approved a historic framework agreement known as the Pillar Assessed Grant or Delegation Agreement (PAGODA) between the Bank group and the European Commission (EC). The agreement – which further enhances the Bank Group’s franchise value as the premier development finance institution in Africa – will leverage and catalyze grants for the Bank’s Regional Member Countries (RMCs) via EC blending instruments.
11-Jul-2017 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) is to fund the construction of a 32 megawatts solar plant to be constructed in N’Djamena, the Chadian capital.
In addition to financing the 32 MW solar power plant, AfDB plans to support other projects such as the electrical interconnection project between Chad and Cameroon, and the rehabilitation of the current National Electricity Company (SNE) plant.
11-Jul-2017 - The African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) has approved and adopted a new medium-term strategy which aims to focus on critical issues that matter to African communities, governments and the entire continent.
Among other things, the Medium-Term Strategy (2018-2022) will strengthen the Facility to achieve greater results.
Experience has shown that strong legal capacities play a critical role in producing economic success in the African region.
11-Jul-2017 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) have signed a landmark agreement to strengthen partnership at country level.
Both parties have agreed to jointly pull together the sum of US $2 billion over the next three years to finance projects in agriculture and food security, renewable energy, small and medium enterprises, and human development (health and education).
10-Jul-2017 - The Africa Climate Change Fund (ACCF), housed in the Climate Change and Green Growth Department of the African Development Bank (AfDB), is launching a call for proposals.
The funding envelope available for this call is US $5 million in the form of grants. The Fund is seeking concept notes for projects and programmes in the range of US $250,000 – US $ 1 million.

07-Jul-2017 - The Government of Japan and the African Development Bank have signed a Letter of Intent to launch the Japan-Africa Energy Initiative (JAEI) to provide significant support to the New Deal on Energy for Africa which aims to achieve universal access to energy by 2025, using available energy sources and the most advanced technologies.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the ongoing African Union Summit at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa on 3 July 2017.

07-Jul-2017 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) has approved a US$ 1 million Emergency Humanitarian Assistance to people affected by drought and famine in Kenya.
On 10th February 2017, the Government of Kenya declared the drought a national disaster following extreme dry spells in pastoral zones since August 2016. These have resulted in high local cereal prices, increasing livestock mortality and conflict that have exacerbated the impact of the drought. 05-Jul-2017 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) has called for the empowerment of small and medium operators in the textiles, apparel and accessories sectors as a deliberate job creation strategy.
The AfDB made the call at the recently concluded Small Business Indaba held on 26 June 2017 in Gauteng, South Africa. The main objective of the Small Business Indaba was to provide small, medium and micro-enterprises (SMMEs) with the tools and network to grow their manufacturing operations to the next level of innovation and job creation.
03-Jul-2017 - Morocco received approval for a US $25 million loan from the Climate Investment Funds’ Clean Technology Fund (CIF CTF) for a project to generate solar power through an innovative hybrid Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) and Photovoltaic (PV) solution. The Midelt Phase I Concentrated Solar Power Project is being supported by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the World Bank with an additional allocation of US$ 25 million in CTF resources.

In order to improve the support services provided to Tunisian entrepreneurs countrywide, Souk At-tanmia’s partnership launched a capacity-building program for public and civil actors operating in the field of entrepreneurship in Tunisia. This training cycle aims to foster synergies between public institutions and civil society organizations in order to improve the quality of the services offered to Tunisian entrepreneurs.
30-Jun-2017 - Countries from the Indian Ocean Islands and East Africa have come together to develop strategies to tackle illegal fishing and increase accountability in fisheries practices.
For two days, representatives from the fishing industry, civil society, governments and fishing administrations from Seychelles, Mauritius, Comoros, Madagascar, Tanzania, Kenya and Mozambique, met on Mahe Island, Seychelles, to discuss the Fisheries Transparency Initiative (FiTI), a global initiative to tackle illegal fishing.
