AfDB, Ivorian government celebrate world water day

28-Mar-2017 - As a sign of their healthy relations, the Ivoirian Government on Thursday, March 23, 2017, in Abidjan, partnered with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and other development players, to commemorate World Water Day. World Water Day is celebrated every year on March 22. It is an opportunity to raise awareness on water issues. This year, the event was celebrated under the theme wastewater.

African Development Bank calls on Ministers to prioritize energy sector development

21-Mar-2017 - The Ministerial segment of the African Union’s first Specialized Technical Committee (STC) on Transport, Intercontinental and Interregional Infrastructures, Energy and Tourism brought together over 40 Ministers from the concerned sectors in Lomé, Togo. The STC was organized by the African Union Commission in collaboration with the Government of Togo and with the support of the African Development Bank. The meeting was held to consider strategies for strengthening the financing of the aforementioned sectors.

Africa Climate Change Fund scales up its operations with new contributions from Italy and Flanders

21-Mar-2017 - Some 509 micro, small and medium enterprises development (MSME) owners graduated and received certificates of participation after attending two business development courses organized by the Seychelles Enterprise Promotion Agency (SEnPA) in collaboration with the University of Seychelles, under the African Development Bank-financed Seychelles MSME Development Project. The Seychelles MSME Development Project is supported by a US $1-million grant from the Fund for Private Sector Assistance (FAPA) of the African Development Bank.

The African Water Facility Supports Somaliland to Build Resilience to Water Stress and Climate Change

AfDB issues 1.875% USD 2.5 billion Global benchmark due 16 March 2020

14-Mar-2017 - On Wednesday, March 8, 2017, the African Development Bank (AfDB), rated Aaa (Moody’s) / AAA (S&P) / AAA (Fitch), launched and priced a new USD 2.5 billion 3-year Global benchmark transaction due March 16, 2020. The new 3-year issue is AfDB’s first USD Global benchmark transaction this year, following a EUR 1 billion 7-year benchmark transaction priced in January.

AfDB and GEF Support Climate Change Adaptation for Sustainable Water Supply in Malawi and Lesotho

The funds are mobilized under the Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) of the GEF.
