42nd Session of the ADEA Steering Committee: Sustainability, Transitioning and Ownership

30-Nov-2015 - The Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) will convene the 42nd Session of its Steering Committee in Abidjan at the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) offices, in CCIA Building, from Thursday, December 3, to Saturday, December 5, 2015. This will be the first ADEA Steering Committee meeting to be held in Abidjan since the AfDB, ADEA’s host institution, returned to its Abidjan headquarters in 2014.

AfDB approves over US $545 million for transport in Côte d’Ivoire, Mali and Tanzania; and economic governance in Cape Verde

26-Nov-2015 - At their regular meetings on Thursday, November 26, 2015, the Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) approved two major transport support and facilitation programmes for Tanzania, Côte d’Ivoire and Mali, as well as an economic governance support programme for Cape Verde to be financed with combined loans and grants totaling US $545 million.

AfDB President in Paris for decisive co-financing agreement with French Development Agency

25-Nov-2015 - African Development Bank (AfDB) President Akinwumi Adesina and the CEO of the French Development Agency (AFD) Anne Paugam signed a framework agreement at the AFD headquarters in Paris to increase the joint financing of projects in Sub-Saharan and North Africa. “This agreement, the first of its kind, is fully in line with the Paris Declaration. It promotes better coordination between AfDB and AFD; it simplifies procedures and thus contributes to facilitating implementation of projects by beneficiary countries,” said Paugam.

AfDB moves ahead on first Africa Visa Openness Index and showcases Rwanda and Mauritius as top performers

The Index ranks African countries on the level of openness/restrictiveness of their visa regimes. Its aim is to drive visa policy reforms across Africa, simplify visa application procedures and encourage positive reciprocity.

African Water Facility to celebrate 10th Anniversary

25-Nov-2015 - On March 25, 2015, the African Water Facility (AWF) will mark 10 years of its existence. A series of high-level events are being planned to celebrate this milestone in Abuja from November 25 to 27. The event will be hosted by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW) and the Federal Ministry of Water Resources. The meetings will be attended by African Ministers of Water Resources, development partners, senior members of the diplomatic corps, academia and the private sector.
