26-Aug-2019 - Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, 26 August 2019 – A high-level African Development Bank delegation, led by President Akinwumi Adesina, is set to join global leaders at the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development, TICAD7 from August 28 to 30.
TICAD7, hosted by Japan and co-organised by the United Nations Office of the Special Advisor on Africa (UN-OSSA), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aims at “promoting high-level policy dialogue between African leaders and development partners.”

06-Aug-2019 - The African Development Bank Group on Monday signed a $4.8 million institutional support grant to the African Union (AU) for implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The grant, approved by the Group’s Board of Directors on 01 April 2019, forms part of a series of interventions by the Bank in its lead role to accelerate implementation of the Free Trade Agreement, seen as a major force for integrating the 55-nation continent and transforming its economy.

26-Jul-2019 - Monrovia, Liberia, 26 July 2019 : Liberian President George Weah has supported calls for agriculture to play a larger role in his country’s economy.
Speaking on 25th July 2019 at a donor meeting with African Development Bank President, Akinwumi Adesina, Weah said his government was contemplating the establishment of an agricultural bank.
Adesina was quick to advise that such a bank should be called an “agribusiness” bank to acknowledge the economic benefits of the transition from primary production to industrial marketing.
26-Jul-2019 - The African Development Bank Board on 17th July 2019 approved $6.6 million funding to finance South Sudan’s payment and settlement systems integration project. The project is consistent with the Bank’s updated country strategy paper which concentrates on state building through capacity and infrastructure development. The project is also aligned with South Sudan’s National Development Strategy 2018-2021; the latter confirms the need to restore and maintain economic infrastructure.
26-Jul-2019 - The African Development Bank has extended a $3 million grant from the Transition Support Facility (TSF) to the Republic of The Gambia for sustainable urban development of the greater Banjul Area.
The activities will include capacity building and the formulation of a master plan for urban development using digital technologies which are intended to greatly improve the operational efficiency of the three municipalities (Banjul, Kanifing and Brikama), and also provide support to the Banjul port expansion.
