AfDB, Morocco ink US $134.65 million loan agreement to improve social protection and inclusion

30-Jun-2016 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and Morocco have signed a loan agreement amounting to US $134.65 million to improve social protection and inclusion in the Kingdom. “The Social Protection Governance Support Programme is an ambitious one,” said AfDB Acting Vice-President for Agriculture, Water, Human Development, Governance and Natural Resources, Kapil Kapoor. “As a result of this program, approximately 250,000 workers and their dependents, as well as 288,000 students, will be enrolled in medical insurance programs.

AfDB, Chad sign €39 million in financing agreements to improve public expenditure

30-Jun-2016 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and Chad signed, on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 in Abidjan, funding agreements of over €39 million with a view to enhancing quality of public expenditure and diversifying Chad’s sources of growth. This second phase of the Public Finance Management Reforms Support Programme includes a loan of €5 million and two grants totaling €34 million.

AfDB loan to provide power to 1.5 million Kenyans

27-Jun-2016 - The African Development Bank on Monday, June 27, 2016, approved a USD 135-million loan to launch the second phase of an energy project that is expected to benefit a minimum of 300,000 customers in Kenya, which would translate into providing electricity access to approximately 1.5 million people, mainly low income groups, and small businesses located near existing distribution transformers.

AfDB approves USD 245 million to finance Uganda-Rwanda transport project and boosts regional trade in East Africa

22-Jun-2016 - On Wednesday, June 22, 2016, the African Development Bank approved USD 245 million in loans and grants to the Governments of Uganda and Rwanda to finance a transport project that will boost regional trade and decongest traffic from Kampala (Busega) city to Mpigi. Uganda and Rwanda are landlocked countries and transport infrastructure is a key factor to stimulate socio-economic activities and improve competitiveness.
