AfDB Supports Export-Oriented SMEs to Boost Local Job Creation in Nigeria

05-Feb-2013 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) signed on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 an agreement to provide two sovereign-guaranteed multi-tranche lines of credit (LoCs) of respectively US $500 million to Bank of Industry (BOI) and of US $200 million to Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) in order to support the modernization and expansion of export-oriented small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The LoCs will allow local SMEs to be more competitive, scale up their operations and ultimately create more jobs in Nigeria.

AfDB Approves US $100 Million Loan to Boost Fertilizer Production in Nigeria

30-Jan-2013 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved today a senior loan of US $100 million to Indorama Eleme Fertilizer & Chemicals Limited (IEFCL) to build and operate a gas to urea fertilizer plant located in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, that will serve markets in Benin, Brazil, Ghana, India, Nigeria, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. The project will allow Nigeria, which relies heavily (80 per cent) on imported fertilizer, to progressively become self-sufficient and a major exporter.

AfDB Prices $1 Billion Fixed Rate US Dollar Global Benchmark Due March 2018

21-Jan-2013 - On Wednesday, January 16, 2013, the African Development Bank (AfDB), rated Aaa/AAA/AAA, priced a $1 billion fixed rate US Dollar Global benchmark due March 15, 2018. The transaction pays a coupon of 0.875 per cent and a spread of five basis points over Mid-Swaps, equivalent to 20.45 basis points over the UST 0.75 per cent due December 31, 2017. Joint Lead Managers on the transaction are BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank, J.P. Morgan and Nomura.
