AfDB and Rwanda Sign US$25 Million Grant Agreements for Rural Water Supply Project

18-Sep-2009 - Tunis, September 18, 2009 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group and Rwanda, on Thursday, 10 September 2009 in Kigali, signed two grant agreements of UA 16 million (US$ 25 million) to finance the second phase of Rwanda’s Rural Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Sub-Program (PNEAR II) for the period 2009-2012.

AfDB Invests US$ 10 Million in West Africa Emerging Market Fund

17-Sep-2009 - Tunis, 16 September 2009 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on Wednesday, 16 September 2009 in Tunis approved a US$10 million investment in the West Africa Emerging Market Fund (WAEMF). The investment makes the AfDB one of the lead investors in the Fund, at par with the CDC (Commonwealth Development Corporation) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).   

AfDB Approves US$ 175 Million Loan for Mining Operation in Mauritania

17-Sep-2009 - Tunis, 16 September 2009 – The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) on Wednesday, 16 September 2009 in Tunis approved a US$175-million loan to finance the expansion of the Guelb El Rhein iron ore mine operations in Mauritania.

AfDB and Chad Sign Grant Agreements

15-Sep-2009 - AfDB Vice President, Kamal El Kheshen, and the Chadian Agriculture Minister, Mbailou Naimbaye Lossimian, on Thursday, September 11, 2009, signed two Fragile States Facility grant agreements. The first grant of UA 450,215.71, equivalent to US$ 706,839, will finance capacity building initiatives in the human resources and training department of the Chadian health ministry.

AWF Approves Grant for Regional Water Policy in ECCAS

15-Sep-2009 - Bank Group President, Donald Kaberuka, has approved a €1,430,000 grant from the African Water Facility (AWF) for the implementation of the regional water policy within the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS). Estimated at € 2,263,000, the project will attract €1,430,000 from the African Water Facility, while IPPF-NEPAD will contribute €490,000.

Bank Group Approves Mauritius’ 2009-2013 Country Strategy Paper

Kamal El Kheshen, et le Ministre tchadien de l’agriculture, M. Bank Group and Indian Ocean Commission Agree to increased Cooperation
