13-Jan-2015 - The Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA) approved at the end of 2014 a USD 420,000 preparation grant to Jumeme - Rural Power Supply Ltd (JRPS) to support the development of a portfolio of independent solar-hybrid mini-grids in rural growth centres in Tanzania. JRPS is a local joint venture comprised of three partners: INENSUS Gmbh, with more than five years’ experience in mini-grid development and operation; TerraProjects, a renewable energy project developer; and St. Augustine University of Tanzania in Mwanza.
09-Jan-2015 - The governments of Ghana and Togo signed on 12 December 2014 a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the construction of an African Water Facility -supported pipeline to bring drinking water from the lower Volta River in Ghana to the city of Lomé in Togo and the Ghanaian communities along the water transfer route. The AWF has offered a €1.4 million grant to Ghana to support the technical, legal and financial preparation of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project.
09-Jan-2015 - The African Water Facility (AWF) announced on January 9, 2015 that it has offered a €1.97 million grant to the Nile Equatorial Lakes Subsidiary Action Program (NELSAP) to increase water availability for multiple purposes in the Nyimur region of Uganda and South Sudan. The grant will support the improvement of irrigated agriculture and food production, fisheries, electricity generation and sanitation as well as the prevention of flooding and droughts in the region.

Earlier this month, the EUR 623-million project marked a significant milestone with financial close, making it the largest private investment in Kenya’s history. The African Development Bank (AfDB) through the African Financial Markets Initiative (AFMI) and Bloomberg on December 9 announced an agreement to collaborate on building the AfDB’s AFMISM Bloomberg® African Bond Index (ABABI), a new family of African bond indices that, once launched, will be calculated by the independent, global index provider, Bloomberg.
15-Dec-2014 - The African Water Facility announced on December 15 that is has offered a €3.4 million grant to the Government of Mozambique to conduct a feasibility study for the development of a climate adaptation project in the lower Limpopo region. This project will include building infrastructure to protect the Limpopo basin from floods and droughts and will increase food security by boosting agricultural production.
