AfDB funds a platform to support women empowerment in 36 African countries

18-Jul-2016 - On 15th of July 2016, the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved USD 12.4 million grant for a project called "50 million Women Speak" to create a networking platform dedicated to sub-Saharan women entrepreneurs. The grant will be spread between the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), the East African Community (EAC) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

AfDB Group announces USD 1-million emergency grant to mitigate severe malnutrition for Madagascar’s Great South Region

15-Jul-2016 - The African Development Bank has approved a USD 1 million emergency grant to fight the scourge of malnutrition in the Great South of Madagascar. The purpose of the grant is to improve the nutritional status of vulnerable groups by decreasing the severity of food insecurity as well as decreasing the overall acute malnutrition of children under the age of five years in the region. The Bank support will result in the increase of the number of households that have access to a nutritious diet through Food and Nutrition Assistance services.
