AfDB Executive Directors visit Egypt on a consultation mission

11-Feb-2016 - An official delegation of seven Executive Directors (EDs) of the African Development Bank arrived in Cairo on Sunday, February 7 for an eight-day consultation mission to Egypt. The EDs sit on the Board at the Bank’s headquarters in Abidjan and provide oversight of the AfDB’s lending and operational activities.

The February 10-11, 2016 meeting was held together with that of the Core Management Team comprising 13 members from across Africa.

AfDB President Adesina leads delegation on visit to Liberia

09-Feb-2016 - The President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, will lead a Bank delegation on a working visit to Liberia on March 10 and 11, 2016, to hold discussions with Liberian officials and review the Bank’s projects and programmes in the country. During the visit, President Adesina and senior management will hold discussions with Liberia’s President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, several ministers and other government officials, development partners, diplomats and media representatives.

Zambia prepares to host AfDB’s 2016 Annual Meetings

08-Feb-2016 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Government of Zambia have signed an aide-memoire on modalities for the organization of the Bank’s 2016 Annual Meetings scheduled to take place in Lusaka from May 23-27, 2016. The aide-memoire was signed on behalf of the Bank by its Acting Vice-President and Secretary General, Olivier Pinzi, and the Secretary to the Treasury, Fredson Yamba, on behalf of Zambia at the end of the AfDB’s preparatory mission to Lusaka from January 18 to 26, 2016.

29-Jan-2016 - The Government of Rwanda and the African Development Bank (AfDB) on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, signed a US $1-million (RWF 753-million) emergency assistance grant to Burundian refugees in Rwanda. The main objective of the assistance is to respond to the urgent and immediate need of procuring sufficient wood to meet domestic needs of refugees and to increase the usage of energy-efficient charcoal stoves to reduce deforestation.

AfDB launches project to strengthen the aviation sector in Central and West Africa

Des plans d’investissement pour l’assainissement de huit villes à Madagascar

25-Jan-2016 - La Facilité africaine de l’eau vient d’approuver un don de 1,8 million d’euros en faveur de Madagascar pour doter huit villes de plans d’assainissement. L’objectif du projet est de renforcer le développement économique et social de ces villes grâce à des programmes d’actions pour la gestion intégrée des eaux pluviales, des excreta, des eaux usées et des déchets solides. Les zones concernées (Toliara, Taolagnaro, Antsirabe, Toamasina, Nosy-Be, Fianarantsoa, Mahajanga et Antsiranana) regroupent 1,6 million d’habitants.

La BAD injecte 80 milliards de FCFA dans la voirie de desserte au Nord du Sénégal

22-Jan-2016 - La Banque africaine de développement (BAD) et le Sénégal ont signé le 22 janvier 2016 à Dakar, un accord de prêt d’un montant de 120,81 millions d’euros (soit 80 milliards de  francs CFA) en appui à un projet dont le montant total s’élève à 361,15 millions d’euros (soit environ 237  milliards francs CFA). Il s’agit de la réhabilitation de la route nationale n°2 et de désenclavement de l’île à Morphil (490 km de la capitale), dans le cadre d’un projet intégré combinant infrastructure routière et appui aux activités des populations locales.
