African Development Bank Supports Afe Babalola University Expansion with a US$40 Million loan
13-Jun-2017 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) has signed agreements for a corporate loan to finance the expansion of Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) in Ado Ekiti, Nigeria. The expansion plan consists of construction of new facilities - including a 400-bed teaching hospital, an industrial research park, a post-graduate school, student hostels, a central library, and a small scale hydro power installation.
20 million Africans benefit from transport and ICT projects financed by AfDB in 2016
12-Jun-2017 - Transport and information and communication technology (ICT) projects financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB) in 2016 would have a positive impact on the living conditions of close to 20 million Africans over the next few years. The AfDB made this forecast in the Annual Report of the Infrastructure, Cities and Urban Development Department, published on 9 June 2017.

A common refrain on the opening day of the two-day conference – “G20 Africa Partnership – Investing in a Common Future” – hosted by Germany under its G20 Presidency was that Africa’s time has come and opportunities for investment on the continent abound.

09-Jun-2017 - The President of the African Development Bank Group, Akinwumi Adesina, has encouraged the 2017 Mandela Washington Fellows for Côte d’Ivoire to research and develop innovative ideas that will move Africa forward. Adesina gave the charge when he hosted 18 Ivorian recipients of the 2017 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders at the AfDB headquarters in Abidjan.
